A Full-Time Wet Shaving Advocate!

Post by mantic »

Last week I took early retirement from my 9-5 desk job to be a full-time shaving/grooming advocate! What would you like my role here to be?

Mark, what a coincidence, I also quit my job so I could shave every day! Made my wife very angry! :D Seriously, though, congratulations, I'm sure you will do well at it, because you have aleady been doing it here and elsewhere for a long time and if anybody can make it work, it will be you.

Congratulations on the retirement, Mark!

As far as your role here, we have had a number of new people join the forum, but they might be lurking rather than posting. Knowledge of your presence here may help bring them forward. You might even drop bits of information in the form a brief lessons about this or that, such as simple solutions to common challenges to the new wetshaver, in the ShaveMyFace University. And of course, we always refer new wetshavers to your blog and your YouTube channel.

Hope to see more of your here! :D

Since you chose early retirement from the white collar wars, I'm guessing you're a follower of the Dilbert cartoon strip. My most recent e-mail from Scott Adams was in response to my experience leading up to retirement, and that of a couple of colleagues a year or two later. One of his cartoon strips reminded me of it. Scott's e-mail said: "Thanks for the fodder, Dave!"

Congratulations on your new direction!

In terms of your role, SMF always benefits when a highly experienced (and if you don't qualify, who does?!) member expresses views and opinions in a lively way. Debate, exchange of views, differing opinions and experiences -- that (IMO) is what makes it fun. As you probably have noticed, a certain highly visible SMF leader/member has been silent of late and is sorely missed. If you can "keep the pot a'boiling" with your views, I'm sure all of us would welcome it and the forum would be greatly enhanced.

Congrats again.

I envy those of you who are in a position to take retirement at whatever stage of life you are at ...... Mark -- anything you do here will be valued --- but that's already been said.

Congratulations .....

Mark,
As others have posted, just carry on as you have, just more of it.
I have often regretted, if even for a moment, my decision to retire a bit early- I miss my job and my colleagues.
I didn't have a real hobby or something to grasp my attention....you seem to enjoy that advantage.
Congrats and best of luck for a happy and healthy retirement!
John

I'm sure not regretting it so far! :D Both the working conditions and the industry as a whole has changed so much over the past 10 years or so that I was pretty unhappy. I'll miss a couple colleagues but we stay in touch.

That's the way I feel about retirement. I took retirement at 55, have been retired for 7 years now, and still love it. There aren't enough hours in the day!

I don't miss the place or the company since for the last 15 years it truly was horrible and made that way deliberately from my perspective, but I do miss the people I worked with and quite a few that I worked for.
