I stopped by Colonial Drug...late of Harvard Square, now in Newton, MA...last night to do some holiday shopping. They shelves now climb to the pressed tin ceiling and the array of goods is just fantastic. They had many marvelous items and those wet shavers who can really should visit the shop. Several marvelous Italian brushes with really beautiful knots. A full range of Floris soaps and scents and Cathie keeps hounding Floris to resume tallow hard soap. I-Kon razors galore. Many exotic shaving soaps I had never before seen. Cathie says they are expecting a delivery from Plisson very soon that will include HMW knots set in real horn and ivory resin. On and on and on...see the pictures below. Those who cannot make it to Newton can shop over the phone at (617) 864-2222, Cathie and P.J. are good about sending pictures of products and will invoice you.

Re: A Trip to Colonial Drug
Makes me want to buy stuff when I've already got stuff. Next time I make it up to New England this will be one of the stops.

Re: A Trip to Colonial Drug
I live in the Boston area, so in the past I visited Colonial Drug off Harvard Square. Great spot. Haven't been to their Newton premises; however, I still do business with them by phone and their customer service is superb. Very nice bunch of folks. Even if you're not in the Boston area, give them a try. Call them up; see if they have the item you want (they probably do); they'll mail you your order and send you a bill (yup . . an actual old fashioned bill for which you write an old fashioned check, all done on the honor system -- amazing). Anyway, I'm glad to hear that the Newton shop is up to the standards of the old place in Cambridge (which I still miss).
