what is elegant shaving?

im starting to think that elegant shaving is in actuality a mental thing. something based upon situation and time.

for example I have seen many ww1 photos from English troops showing them getting in a weekly shave via straight razor. Before and after pictures show a pleasure in being shaved after going a week crawling in mud and dodging shells and gas.

I guess it could be simply. Hey im nice and clean now.
combined with satisfaction of the shave itself. Not in the actual tools used, but in being happy with the tools.

wether it be a 10 dollar micromatic, 20 dollar straight razor you found online, or a genuine rhodium plated mongoose.
