Good shave supply shops in Dallas?

Post by photomike »

Hey,

Very new to this and wondered if there were any good shops that stock a few types of soaps/cremes in the D/FW area that anyone can recommend.

I looked up a Crabtree & Evelyn in Frisco, but wanted to find a place that maybe stocked Trumpers, DR Harris and others so I'm not ordering everything online and then find out I dont like the scent.

I already emailed a few from the sticky list to get some samples but want to have options.

Thanks all, great forum.

Other than C&E and AOS, options are pretty limited here in Dallas.

There's an etailer that's based out of Ft Worth somewhere (shavingshop.com) but he's online only, no brick & mortar store to go try stuff.

Otherwise, there's nordstroms that carrys T&H and AOS, and a few indian stores that sell alum blocks locally.

Surprisingly I've had little luck getting AOS samples from AOS stores, but Nordstroms provides them no questions asked.

If you're looking outside the 3 T's, Toms of Maine and KMF are sold at Vitamin Shoppe, Whole foods and Central Market. The Toms Mint is WORTH tracking down. great stuff, probably the best you can get locally.

Hey thanks for the heads up.

I plan on going by the Galleria tomorrow as there is an AOS and a Nordstrom's, as well as a Body Shop.

Tried swinging by an English grocery store on Greenville Ave. on the off chance they would have some toiletries but they were closed down.

Saw some of the Tom's today at WF but didnt get it as I wasnt sure about the minty-ness factor. I may pick some up just to try it out.

Can you get any of the Col. Conk soaps here local?

Thanks again,

Mike

Joshua,

Went by the Beauty Depot and grabbed a small cake of Lime and a large cake of the Amber scent.

Thanks for the headsup.

Cool!

Are those the only scents they carried, or do they carry the full line?

Anything else stocked besides conk?

Joshua,

They had Almond and Amber in the large pucks and lime and bay rum in the small pucks. Prices were right on according to the Col. Conk website, I think $3.95 for the small and $5.50 or so for the large.

Didnt see any other types of soaps but they did have a few aftershaves. Didnt recognize any off-hand but there was a "Vegetal" that smelled pretty good.

Cheers,

Mike

I live in Frisco. I got some C.O.Bigelow product at a bath&Body, and the C&E is in Willow Bend mall. I dont really know of anything else in Frisco though.

So far, for local Dallas shops we've got;
King Barber - for a shave, decent brushes or some Lucky Tiger Stuff
Saks - Castle Forbes
Nordstroms - Lucky Tiger, T&H, AOS
Art of Shaving - 'nuff said
Crabtree & Evelyn - 'nuff said
Beauty Depot (18217 Midway Rd, Addison) - Conk Soap
Bed Bath & Beyond - Rebranded Proraso

Not bad for local. It's not Enchante' like Austin, but still pretty good.
