Soaps You'd Buy if They Existed

Post by TRBeck »

Gents, a few months back we had a "Frankensoap" thread wherein we discussed the construction of a "perfect" soap. This is along those same lines, but I'm coming at it a bit differently. I don't say any of the following would be the "perfect" soap, but lately I've been wishing these items existed:

DR Harris soap with a straight sandalwood scent (I like Marlborough, but I want something without the cedar and smoky notes)
A triple-milled bay rum soap (I made some TGR unscented cream into a bay rum cream, and it only made me crave a tallow soap version more)
A triple-milled vetiver soap or good vetiver cream (again, scenting my own w/TGR just made me want this more)
A hard soap that smells like Musgo Real cream
A triple-milled bergamot soap

I guess the basic theme of these desires is that I want more scent options in hard soap. In a way, there are too many options, but I think any of the above would sell well, especially a straight sandalwood Harris and a good hard bay rum soap, and for me, among soaps that I like and will use, there's just a handful of scents available.

So, what soaps do you wish were on the market? What's missing from our shave dens?

Regards,
Regards,
Tim

Tim, One thing I've always wished for was a Trumper hard shave soap in Lavender scent ( preferrably white colored ), and I wouldn't mind if Taylors made a Violet shave cream, or if Trumpers made a Spanish Leather shave soap.

AOS and/or Harris rose shave soap.

Yes, a Musgo soap would be nice (minus the irritation I often get from the cream).

Scented T&H soaps.

Ooh, yeah, forgot about Trumper Spanish Leather soap. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

A violet soap that isn't deep purple would be great, too. Or a Taylor cream. I could stomach the cost better (violet isn't a shave scent I want all the time, but when I want it, I want it).

Second, plus a Hammam Bouquet soap.

plus one on the Harris Rose Soap. AOS rose soap would be nice but those soaps seem to smell cardboardey, and they'd probably die the soap hot pink, so it would look slutty and smell nasty. So I'm giving my delegates to a Harris Rose Soap.

Chris, Ah yes...the Hammam Bouquet shave soap. I'm STILL kicking myself for not buying at least a couple of those back when I could have...sigh....

I'm a big fan of Tabac as a top notch performer, so my submissions are:
Maurer & Wirtz Rose/Rosewood
Maurer & Wirtz Limes/Bergamot/Orange
Maurer & Wirtz Hungary Water (Citrus/Rosemary)

Basically, the Tabac shaving soap base with a traditional, single tone scent. If only QED could partner up with AoS or Maurer & Wirtz ...

Some that may have or no longer exist, but should.

Knize Forest
Yardley English Lavender

+1 on a Musgo scented shaving soap. Make mine tallow based and triple milled in an intersting bowl.

Has there ever been a scented T&H soap?

A wider range of "single note" Harris soaps (rose, sandalwood, and so on.)

I would like to second a few first....

MWF in scents (sandalwood, leather, etc.) would be nice, though I have not tried the soap yet, scent selection would be nice

Trumper Spanish Leather cream or soap

Musgo soap

Gordon's Hammam Bouquet idea.....

And I would like to extend Gordon's idea to include all of Penhaligon's shave scents, Old spice soap, Coates cream, and pre-reformulation of the 3 T shops

But I know I'm asking too much

Tim, great question. I would stand in line in a heartbeat for these soaps:

Trumper's Wild Fern
Trumper's Spanish Leather
Trumper's Vetiver
Trumper's Bay Rum
T&H Spanish Leather (old formula)

I could keep going on, but these would do. :D

Definitely a Harris rose soap. Maybe a T&H rose soap, and their amazing Sandalwood in soap form would also be nice.
Why not a tea tree soap? No one I know makes one.

A veggie based soap with a natural rose scent only scented with rose water and rose absolute. Of course it would have to have good moisturizing properties and lather very well, etc. I'd prefer milled but would go for glycerin too. Maybe I should try making my own with an unscented Honeybee puck.

Something that smells like Almonds, moisturizes like MWf and lathers like VDH Deluxe, in a stick.

Sounds like heaven to me....
