Taylor's Avocado

Post by Thalay Sagar »

I did a search and discovered that no threads on this cream in a while and I decided that this wonderful little cream with it's herbaceous scent needed some love.

When first getting into this hobby about 3 years ago my first and only SC was a tube of TOBS Avocado. I think I made a good first pick. I used that tube up long ago but see a pot of this in my near future. Sending some love here...

My first cream, also. Tubed. In combo with an SR3824, the Avocado produced delicious, decadent lather. But then I got the wandering eye. Hope she'll take me back.

Taylor's Avocado along with their Rose and Lavender were the holy trinity for me when I first started. Even now, I find these creams very comforting when I use them.

Great stuff. If I had to pick but one product from Taylor's lineup it would be the Avocado cream. Some say it is not what it once was and I never had an older version for comparison but I'm quite happy with the way the one I have works.

Chris, there actually have been many glowing reviews of Avocado here (perhaps not evident in the titles of threads that you searched), and on the basis of those I ordered a pot last year. Performance was fine, but I'm sorry to say I could not abide the fragrance. It was very modern, strong, and (to me) cheap-smelling, like many of the shampoos and skin lotions available today on drugstore shelves. I'd advise anyone who is picky about fragrances to order a sample first. If you like it, more power to you.

Has anyone used the new paraben-free version? When I smelled TOBS Avocado at Colonial Drug a few years ago, it smelled like baby-wipes :? I love TOBS creams and would definitely pick up this one if the scent were better.

TOBS Avacado was, if I remember correctly, my first shave cream. It was a good introduction to shave cream, but I got away from using it. I like it performance wise, but don't care much for the scent.

I love it. Wonderful scent. I've not tried the most recent rendition of it though.

I tried this some years back and it worked well but I didn't care for the scent so will not reorder even if I could get the original version.

Avocados are for cuisine not for shaving.

That's how I feel about it, Squire. Guacamole has its place, but not in the bathroom. What's next - pico de gallo shaving cream?

Can you imagine having pico de gallo smeared all over your face? Like a scene from Dawn of the Dead...

would sting too... but not in a menthol kinda way...

You follow it up with a sour cream aftershave balm.

I'd rather not shave with what I eat.
