Five? That's easy (a few months ago there was a posting on another board asking for just *one*! That was hard!):

I haven't really tried enough prouducts to have an 'honest' 5 favorites...

1. Williams Soap (great favorite and stand-by)
2. Taylors 'Mr. Taylor'
3. Taylors Lemon/Lime
4. Old Spice (when it can be found - unused)
5. Proraso eucalyptus

I am sure Trumpers (Violet? ) will fit in there somewhere and QED 'ROSE' when I can get a chance to order some!

Chris, Well, at least this is a little more reasonable then that dreadful 'mantic' person, demanding that we choose just ONE! This is hard enough, the other was downright fiendish ( and painful ). OK, let's see ( sorry this isn't in a nice neat list like everyone else, but neither I, nor my wife can figure out how to do that on this machine ):1) pot of Coate's Lavender, 2) pot of Taylor's Rose, 3) pot of Trumper's or T&H Lime, 4) bowl of Harris's Almond shave soap, 5) a travel tube of Trumper's Violet. I could be OK with this lineup. Regards, Gordon

Gordon,

I've always assumed that your one paragraph messages (no matter how long) were stylistic. Are you saying that you have a computer that does not permit you to paragraph?

Ken, Yes! Stylistic, definately! I'm quite individualistic, don't ye know.......oh drat!....why did I mention that?........( sigh )......well, we don't know for sure. I'm computer illiterate. My wife is more knowledgeable, but knows nothing of the ways of forums, the internet, etc. Our machine IS antediluvian, I'm told. There probably is a way, but we don't know what it is......Let's just stick with stylistic. Gordon

Gordon,
While typing your message in the reply/post box...

Hit the <Enter> key and that will step it down a line for you.

Some browsers require the use of the <shift> key as well. (hold down <shift> and hit <enter> release <shift>)

This should allow you to line space, list, etc.

Gentlemen,
I cannot disagree with any of the products mentioned all of which I consider equally top rated. No wish to invite criticisim , but my list has to include at least one of Conk's soaps which in my opinion produce a rich creamy and lubricating lather on par with if not better than so called "top shelf English products".

for me, Taylors almond, DR Harris almod, Crabtree & Evelyn almond,
Gold-Dachs Spezial shaving soap, or DR Harris Arlington. I know I'm sort of forsaking 3 or 4 others that I really love.

C&E Almond
C&E Sienna
C&E Nomad
Taylor's Avocado
T&H 1805

In no order, but I think we should make the list 7...one for each day of the week!

I run this list through my mind weekly and it constantly changes as I discover benefits of each. Here is my current top 5:

Proraso Green
Harris Lavender Soap
Harris Almond
Taylor Rose
Coates Rose

St Charles Soap should be in there somewhere making 6.

Proraso is definitely an all round winner with the range of products, price point, and availability for the common man.
