Stirling Soaps
Stirling Soaps
I tried my first Stirling soap a while back and recently finished off my first puck. I wanted to see if any of you like the Stirling soaps as much as I do. I started with the menthol Margaritas in the Arctic. It whips up easily with a slick cushioning lather. When I re-ordered the MITA, I also ordered a puck of the Scots Pine Sheep. I just had my 3rd shave with the Scots Pine and it is doing great. Rod from Stirling also included 2 sample pucks with my latest order for me to try out, Tea Tree and Coniferous. I have used the Tea Tree and it performed equally well for me. Stirling has fast become a "go to soap" for me. The large pucks are only $5 too.........

Re: Stirling Soaps
I've never tried them, but there is quite a buzz being generated about these soaps, especially given the price point. His bath soaps are extremely competitively priced, as well.
Probably only a matter of time before I order some stuff from his site.

Very interesting stuff Bob, the Electric Sheep bath soap got my attention.

I had my 2nd shave with the Tea Tree today. Great lather, great shave. I do like the MITA and Scots Pine more though...
You have to love a guy with a sense of humor like this in describing his scents:
Ben Franklin:
This soap smells like an older gentleman’s pantaloons at the end of a hot July day in Philadelphia, drafting important documents with no air conditioner
He does add:
Made with Benzoin, Frankincense, Clove, and Nutmeg essential oils. It’s actually a very unique scent that reminded a few of my testers of a root beer float. An instant favorite.
It is pretty easy to start taking all this a bit too seriously......
Soap: Stirling Tea Tree
Razor: Maggard MR1
Blade: Voskhod (4)
Brush: Omega 10066 Boar
Aftershave: Krampert’s Frostbite
2nd shave with the Tea Tree. 4th shave with this Voskhod blade. Still going strong. Nick and burn free shave. I finished with the Krampert’s Frostbite. Brrrrrrrr!!

Re: Stirling Soaps
Thanks for bringing Sterling to SMF Bob. I did buy a puck of one of his earlier versions several months ago. It's probably time for me to give it another "go", considering how successful his current soaps seem to be.

Re: Stirling Soaps
I have been using the Scots Pine for a while now after finishing my first puck of Margaritas in the Arctic. I decided to try the Coniferous sample Rod sent me with my last order today. The scent is like a pine mountain forest, but not overwhelming. As expected, I got a great slick, smooth, cushioned lather and a great shave. So far, I have used MITA, Scots Pine, Tea Tree, and Coniferous. I have had equally good results with all of them. Stirling has just added more scent to some of their formulas and made some slight adjustments to help get even better lather(I have not had a problem, even with my hard water). Some soaps have come down in price and a few have increased. None are over $6 a 4 oz. puck.

Re: Stirling Soaps
IMO Rod's soaps are the slickest I've tried. Even when I use other soaps I'll add 15 or so swirls of Stirling to get added slickness.
Re: Stirling Soaps
I've been using Stirling for a while now. The soap is inexpensive and absolutely excellent. About the best value out there now and probably the most protective soap I've ever used. You can order samples that are about 1oz for $1.25. This is an excellent way to try many of the different scents. My favorites are Margaritas in the Arctic, Cool, and Orange Chill. A lot of people are liking the Anise but I haven't tried that one yet. He has a soap coming out soon called Glacial with twice the menthol as Margaritas in the Arctic. This should be a nice face freezer.
Re: Stirling Soaps
I just finished a shave with the Margaritas in the Arctic which I received yesterday from a good friend. The soap has a great tropical scent with a menthol note and the lather's a pleasure to work with. It's also quite strongly-mentholated. A very, very nice soap, indeed.
Re: Stirling Soaps
This one's been getting a lot of positive reviews. I've read some of the comments posted somewhere by Rod, and I like his positive attitude and his pricing. I wish him all the best with his soaps. It's really easy to try a new soap when the price is right down there where anyone can afford to give it a whirl, without putting a ding in the wallet.

Re: Stirling Soaps
I got to break out my puck of the new Stirling Clubman today. It is VERY close to Pinaud Clubman and does a great job!
Prep: Hot Shower
Soap: Stirling Clubman
Razor: ’66 Gillette Slim (6)
Blade: Super-Max Blue Diamond Platinum (1)
Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip
Aftershave: Clubman
WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)
The Slim is back in action with a Super-Max Blue Diamond Platinum blade. I got the 5-pack of BDP’s in a trade. The Super-Max BDP did well for its first shave in the Slim: close, nick & burn free. The Stirling Clubman is a welcome addition to my soaps. I finished with Clubman AS. A great start to the work week.

Re: Stirling Soaps
Stirling is a very solid soap. I haven't found one that I don't like, try the beer. You'll leave out the door smelling like a brewery..
The greatest thing about shaving. You get to do it all over tomorrow.
Re: Stirling Soaps
I pulled out one of my new Stirling samples today, the Lavender Sage. It quickly gave up a very easy and thick lather. I like this scent too. I had a great 4th shave with the Slim and the Polsilver SI. I finished up with Canoe.
Re: Stirling Soaps
I am in the process of narrowing down my Stirling scents to four. So far, the must haves are Margaritas in the Arctic (the menthol choice), Clubman, and Spice. Working on #4. I will still probably try new soaps as Rod adds them though..........
I did try my sample puck of Ozark Mountain today. I had used the OM bath soap, so I knew I would like the scent. Great lather, great shave.

Re: Stirling Soaps
I recently ordered six sample pucks of Sterling shave soap and one free sample. The first one I used was the Scot pine and it was okay..just a hint of pine but not overwhelming. The next one I want to try is the Glacial and it supposed to be cold..we will see..Let me know your opinion on the other pucks you bought.

Re: Stirling Soaps
Welcome Frank!
I just started my 3rd puck of Margaritas in the Arctic this morning. This is the latest generation formulation. It almost scared me. It lathered very quickly. I have rock hard water and sometimes it takes a minute or two to get my lather just right. Not today! I had a great shave: smooth, close, nick and burn free. I finished up with Krampert's Frostbite.
FYI-Stirling MITA soap and Krapmert's Frostbite aftershave may be the perfect menthol storm relative to performance, scent, and conditioning. Try it, you'll like it!

Re: Stirling Soaps
Here's a review of the Black Ice soap:
Ease of lathering: 9/10--Not much work required. This soap is quite thirsty, however.
Longevity of lather: 9/10--No problem that way either. Holds up well.
General skincare: 9/10--Brilliant. NICE cooling effect and very protective against dryness or irritation.
Scent: 8/10--Strong black licorice-type which lightens when you lather up. Very pleasant.
Price: 10/10--Mine was a gift, but I know these soaps are very reasonably-priced.
Would I buy again: 10/10--Any time. How couldn't I?
