Strongly Scented Products?

Post by mantic »

What are the most strongly-scented traditional wet shaving products around right now? Tabac? Check. Castle Forbes? Got it. What else (soap, cream, aftershave)?

The recent discontinued Ralph Lauren Safari was like having a firecracker go off in my nose. Second place, I think in my case it might be Pen's English Fern. In a good way! :D

I think Mike's and Mystic Waters would depend on the scent or fragrance. I ordered both of these scented with lime EO, and they weren't very strong.

I had a cake of Art of Shaving Lavender (EO) shaving soap, which was very strong. At the same time, I had a cake of AoS Lemon soap in which I could barely detect the lemon.

Mark, I don't know regarding the 'artisan' products but amongst the traditional English stuff I've always found the Taylor creams that are scented with like their colognes ( and a couple of their other ones as well ) to be quite strongly scented, too much so for me. Creams like Mr. Taylors or their version of Sandalwood. A few of the T&H creams like Trafalgar I also found to be pretty potent scent-wise.

Of the four dozen products I have, J Peterman 1903 is the strongest scent.

I guess I'm going to have to crack open the wallet for some again then. I tried it a few years back and loved the strong scent, but the next pot I bought had been toned-back quite a bit. I guess the pendulum has swung back! :)

Try Eshave almond aftershave balm. The scent would blow the hinges off of a vault door. The wrong product to use of you've got sensitive skin, which is contrary to Forbes which is just a strong yet doesn't irritate me. Just cracked open their Lime cream, to try and get me in a good mood in these dark mornings. Delicious.

I don't care too much about strongly scented during the shave. But if it's strong and long-lasting, that's a big deal.

Castle Forbes is strongly scented? Hmm. Is that a new development? I'm still working on tubs of CF cream (cedarwood and limes) I bought a couple of years ago. Sure, you get a noseful while shaving, but it's pretty much gone after rinsing and drying.

T&H 1805, definitely. It's the strongest scented thing I use. And it's used infrequently because I'll smell it all day. It just doesn't seem to taper off at all. Not something I like.

MWF makes the list, too. Another one that smells strongly (and, to me, somewhat repellently), but it does mellow out during the day. It gets used very infrequently.

DR Harris Arlington.

Cyril Salter vetiver.

Trumper's Eucris.

Crabtree & Evelyn Nomad.

The last four get used more often - just have to be in the right mood for them.

Agreed on the Pinaud - the AS and the Clubman shampoo are both quite strong.

Also agree on TOBS - the sandalwood is really strong.

Lastly (for me anyway) - C&E Nomad
