Wednesday morning's choice was Czech & Speake Oxford and Cambridge Soap.
First shave with this classic was genuinely top notch; twelve hours after the
shave and could feel very little stubble and no irritation.
At $38, of course, is should be superb and it was!
Enjoying wet shaving, again.

Squire,
To me the scent is basically lavender, with other notes my nose can't identify.
Have seen reviews wherein some note/complain about the smell of clay; if it's
there, it doesn't reach my nose or bother me. The soap's lavender scent in any
case is not overpowering, at least to me.
Since the ingredients don't list clay, not sure what the origin of that scent might
be. Again, quoting others, one explanation is that the smell is related to the
tallow content/quality. How that might be totally escapes me.
I bought the C&S in hopes of finding a successor to AOS Tallow Lavender, mostly
for performance, not fragrance. The bottom of the pewter mug holding the AOS
is now visible, and the puck will soon be gone. I think Czech & Speake will have
no problem filling the void.

Thanks John, I was thinking a light, sweet lavender as opposed to a more pungent, earthy variety. This sounds like something I would like.

Squire, C&S O&C cologne is lavender with mint and something else that's a little earthy. To my nose it lines up nicely with Nancy Boy's Signature scent.
Best,
Chris

I've only read about it on their web site and would much prefer to rely on the first hand impressions of members here.

Tonight's soap was the Cedarwood Two that was made in the kitchen on the 22nd of November. I think that batch was pretty doggone good, if I say so myself. I probably should make a double batch of this one next time, and use the tobacco fragrance, that is, if I can get it tuned in. No rush,

That and TOBS Rose are my favourite and have been for as long as I can remember. I have a brand new tub of each, bought in October at TOBS's London shop, just waiting to be cracked open. At the moment, however, I'm working on a tub of Body Shop cream.

This morning I used an unscented artisan soap by one of our members (thanks Dave) which performed better than some professional stuff I've used.

Today's choice was a second go-round with the Czech & Speake Oxford and
Cambridge; this time with a boar brush. Same great lather and close
comfortable shave.

Umm....not to be nitpicky and not that it really matters I suppose, but isn't this thread a tad redundant vis a vis our SOTD section?

Well, yes, I suppose it is, though this thread provides more room for expanding the subject.

Sunday morning's shave soap was the Valobra hard puck in the Cologne scent.
Nice shave with ever so little irritation, still DFS 12 hours later, which is
fairly unusual.
Trying to decide if the Valobra or the C&S provides bit more protection.
Loving the comparison process for sure!
Enjoying wet shaving, again.

I like Palmolive shave soap except find the scent a bit more than I would wish. I've found that grating the stick up and letting it age reduces the scent to a just noticeable level.
