Please Help - Lathering with MW Soap UPDATE

Post by LookingGlass »

I revisited my MW Wild Lavender after these replies and an email from Michelle. This time I poured on the water with much better results. I attached a couple of pics. Nice slick lather; comfortable shave. I reckon this is a keeper. Also, a plug for the Omega Mighty Midget. This is, for me, a great little brush and fun to use. I have seen it for as low as $13.00 plus shipping.

Thanks for the assistance with this soap.

Take care,
Ed

Ed, MW likes a lot of water. I had a puck a year or so, and I watched a Youtube video exactly on point with your statement above about advice on lathering MW. If you can locate that one, the guy does a good job with it. Water is the key, though.

Ed, I'd be happy to help you if you want to contact me by email. It does sound like you need to add some water. Are you trying to face lather or build your lather in a bowl? Did you check out the videos on my website?

This thread is eerily familiar to the many MWF threads we have seen over the years.

I'm just sayin'. 8)

My experience, like Gary's, is that Mystic Water soap likes lots of water. When I first tried lathering it in my usual manner, starting with a fairly dry brush and adding water gradually in little bits, I got dry, airy lather that was useless. By making a point of keeping the lather wet, from the start, I got good lather from the soap and it became a favorite.

Well, if Michelle herself is offering advice, Ed, I'd take it.
Glad to see she's monitoring SMF, and better yet, she's so deeply involved in her enterprise.
Good on her!!! The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well!
Hope your perseverance and her guidance will get you the lather/shave you want!
Enjoying wet shaving, again.

I received a very nice, cordial email from Michelle explaining the attributes of her soap and lathering recommendations. I am impressed. Wish we had more vendors like her. Looks like water is the key so I plan on working with the soap. Since I am using a bowl, I'll break out my tried and true Semogue 1305 and give it a go. I plan to keep in contact with Michelle on my progress. I read a number of posts that her Bay Rum is excellent and I want to make this soap work so I can try other scents.

Thanks to all...your feedback is appreciated.
