Trumper's Limes Soap - Review

Post by wvbias »

This is the same puck that was formerly
owned by Brothers and PIFed to be by
kronos9.

The soap arrived one day last week when I
was testing the puck of Rose but I couldn't
resist immediately doing a test later.

I followed the same procedure that I was following
with the Rose. I used the Simpson's Berkeley best,
thoroughly wet the bristles, shook out the excess
water and proceeded to swirl the tips of the hair
for about 15 or 20 seconds. I then began to face
lather for around two minutes and the Limes lathered
just fine. I definitely had enough lather left for a second
pass.

This afternoon I finally shaved with it using the Merkur 39c
slant and a new Astra SP blade. I used the same lathering
procedure as I used when I did the lathering test last week.

As with the Rose review I used a Simpson's Berkeley best,
a Merkur 39c slant and a new Astra SP blade

The razor simply slid down my face without any tugging
or irritation. I lathered up again for a second irritation
free shave.

I will have to say this puck at least for me is a winner and
I'm glad to have it in my rotation.

The only down side and this may just me the scent seems to
be lacking. I really couldn't detect any lime scent only a slight
soap smell. I wasn't expecting anything like Castle Forbes Lime
but at the very least a subtle scent would have been acceptable.

Other than the scent the soap IMO is completely acceptable
and I will definitely be using it for the remainder of the week.
After that it goes in the rotation.

Thanks for your thoughts Terry. I must admit that Trumpers lime never struck me as one to win the lime scent contest but the cakes I've used did the job well and I'm pleased to see it's working for you.

Terry, An especial thanks for a follow-up on this specific soap. I am much less concerned about my sources of future hard soap purchases than I was for awhile there. Sorry to hear about the lack of scent though. Granted, the hard Limes soap never had as much olfactory ummph as their Limes cream ( or other lime creams for that matter ) but all the cakes I've had in the past did, definitely, have a noticeable 'lime-ish' scent which I rather liked. Then again, that last cake of Harris's Almond that I ordered had NO scent other than 'soap' but the ones most other members have gotten have been fine in that department.

Gordon

Third time's the charm? All's well that ends well? Cliches aside, enjoy in good health, Terry.
