Still seems to be on the shelves at Tesco, at least at the larger stores. I checked two over the weekend. Asda have the sticks but not tubes, but I don't remember them stocking the tube for a long time. I hope it is still stocked - the first cream I tried.

Clive I've used a few made in different Countries and didn't notice a difference.
thanks for the info squire. I remember ages ago when talk hit the forum that either 1) palmolive was the beeeez neeez, or 2) they were stopping production or 3) both 1+2 :D In any event there was a little palmolive rush. I dont even use cream and i ran out and bought 12 of them at the local target/cvs before they 'disappeared' Over the years I gave the cream away.....perhaps i should have saved them for investment purposes!!!! HAHAHHAHAHAHA

Both Asda and Tesco had plenty of sticks at all the superstores I went into last fall while we were over th' pond. Tesco also had plenty tubes of the cream ... I stocked up, cleaning one Tesco store out of their sticks entirely and grabbing a couple of tubes of cream -- most of which I have PIF"d to friends ... kept one tube and two sticks for my supply. We are back again this fall, so hoping that it is still being supplied and stocked. Best doggone budget lathering product I have ever used.

+1

Over on the continent I tried to grab one dozen, but was politely told that they could only sell me "household quantities" (maximum 10).

Wendell, I hope you find fully stocked shelves! I know it's several months away, but we'll be curious to see what you say when you return.

All this talk about discontinuing Palmolive sticks got me worried.
Before I ordered some, I went to check my stash and realized I have more than plenty of them left.
It even surprised me at how many I had.

Hi guys,

I emailed Colgate-Palmolive UK about the Classic cream being discontinued. Below is the response :(

Subject: Your recent e-mail to Colgate-Palmolive

Dear Mr. Peake,

Thank you for your recent inquiry about Palmolive Classic Shaving Cream. We appreciate your interest in our Company and are pleased to have the opportunity to respond.

We regret to inform you that the product you are interested in is not currently being manufactured. In response to decreased consumer demand, we sometimes have to stop manufacturing a product. Unfortunately, we do not have any remaining stock to offer you directly. Although we cannot accommodate you at this time, we realise the importance of hearing from consumers, such as you, in order to remain aware of your continued interest. We will be sure to share your comments with our Business Development Group.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for your interest in our Company and its products.

Yours sincerely

Steve Spranck
Consumer Services Representative

Obviously not what I wanted to hear, I guess the TV ads for all the shave creams and razors that give you the closest most pefrectest super doper shave after just one pass have worked. I will be flocking to the shops to buy these miracle soaps.... NOT!

But I will be at the supermarket tomorrow to try and get some Palmolive before stocks run out.

Damn it :(

John, the subject of the sticks wasn't addressed. I suppose it's out of production too.

The "Cashmere Bouquet" bath soap, has the identical ingredient (soap base), as the older un-reformulated shaving stick. That is proof , to me, that this is the original U.S. formula but they were made at Colgate-Palmolive facilities in Germany. The soap has been made since 1872 with the Palmolive shave soap arriving not long after.

I didn't ask about the sticks, to be honest until I tried some Arko the other week, I have only used creams. But going off the tone of the email reply, I reckon the whole lot is finished.

Went to my local Morrison's supermarket today and bought six tubes of the cream, there were six left on the shelf and maybe three or four sticks. Those should keep me going for a while.

If you're in the UK, and want some of the cream, Morrison's are charging £1.80 each and Tesco £1.85, Tesco had more in stock at that time in Blackpool.

I reckon if you like the stuff, get It now while you have got the chance.

The shelves had loads of fancy foams and creams for sale by branded names, all at way more money than the Palmolive. Who says advertising doesn't work

Is it possible that the new EU regs and labeling requirements nolonger meet the US labeling regulations and that is why it can not be 'sourced' ?

From the reply I got from them, they are just not going to make it any more due to lack of demand.

.....Funny you mentioned this,I just bought 2 bars of Cashmere Bouquet from a mom & pop drug store.I hadn't used it since I was a young boy in the 50's and that's what my mother used to use.It is still tallow ,creamy and thick, easily lasting with just one wash cloth lathering.I can't tell if the scent is exactly the same or not,but it is a full bodied and pleasant scent, the soap gets the job done as it should. On the other hand, while in the shop I also grabbed 2 bars of Ivory, another I used in the 50's as a boy.Still has the citronella scent, but the bar is heavier,I remember how light and airy the old bars were. This bar I just bought is made in Canada, close, but different.

Whether or not the soap has been discontinued, Paul at Connaught seems to have plenty of the sticks at this moment, in case anyone's going to lay in a lifetime supply while they can.

I would venture to guess the three oldest U.S. bath soaps would be: Cashmere Bouquet, Palmolive and Jergens. All continuously made here since the 1870s, 1880s. Caswell Massey, had their Castile soap made since the year 1861, but I'm not sure if it is offered any longer. The Cashmere Bouquet can be purchased at any Big Lots in packs of three. It really is a great value and generous bar. They even have a matching talc if you like the scent. Can hunt around online for that. The (soap base) ingredients are the same as the Palmolive shaving stick that was reformulated a couple years back. Palmolive bath soap is sold at any Dollar Tree branch. Lastly, if you want to try a really old timey bath soap, buy some Jergens Mild bars. I really like this soap quite a bit. It is a throwback experience from the moment of unwrapping. Forgive for veering off course with this thread. We're just chatting here, give these things a try, what the hell...
