Vintage Colgate shaving stick

No idea when this was produced, but I can say this - it's very old and I bought it from a gentleman in Sweden and it's awesome.

Ease of lathering: 10/10--Right away you get rich lather and plenty of it.

Longevity of lather: 10/10--Multi-pass shaves are no problem. Great stability.

General skincare: 8/10--Pretty good that way too.

Scent: 9/10--Nice and old-school, the way I like it.

Price: 7/10--A bit costly but I think it was worth it.

Would I buy again: 10/10--Yes I definitely would if I was able to.

This shows that the old-time stuff is the BEST!

Vintage stuff is wher you find it and when found often isn't a bargain. When I say old stuff is the best I'm speaking of regular brands like Williams that were widely available 40-50 years ago and were much better than their counterparts today. Vintage is worth using though, hard shaving soap is pretty immutable stuff and even though the scent fades shaving qualities remain.

I liked them back then but prefer Harris or other high end soaps today. Understand the attraction for the old ones though.

Ebay or the shaving forums buying/selling/trading forums. Occasionally an antique store or flea market, but a dusty cake of old soap rarely gets anyone's adrenaline flowing. I have a hunch a lot of it gets thrown away.

Curiously that's true. Junktique shops see a value in dinged up old razors while not realizing there may be more in the dusty boxes of soap.
