Today we have something new in the den from Miami Lakes FL a company called Lather Bros provided us with one of their shaving soaps and after shaves called Calle Ocho or “Eight Street” the center of Cuban life and culture in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood. This vibrant street is known for its Cuban restaurants, popular ventanitas, Cuban bakeries, Cigar Shops, Domino Park and colorful street festivals.
The Lather Bros comes in a translucent plastic tub with a screw on lid that celebrates what I think would be a scene from Domino Park right on its eye-catching label. Also provided is the breakdown of the scent and net weight which is 4oz. The side label provides duplicates this information as well with the included ingredients list which could have been easier to read if it the text was white.
The scent is a combination of Tobacco, Guava and Papaya. I get the tobacco first which hits you right away then the fruits seem to fight for second place each time I use it. The ingredients list includes Stearic Acid, Coconut Water, Aloe Vera Juice, Guava Puree, Tallow, Coconut Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Glycerin, Sodium Lactate Essential Oils and Fragrance
I bowl lather and created an amazing amount of thick creamy lather in about a min. I used a little more water than I should have but the soap managed to overcome my mistake. The soap has excellent coverage allowing me to paint on the thick lather to penetrate my 5-day old beard. The slickness and glide had high marks allowing me to go over spots with no irritation.
The after shave was an added surprise. I was bracing myself like I always do before I apply after shave but this one was different I had a pleasant feeling a smooth cooling if you will as I worked in the splash. I felt its healing effects right away. I had to pause for a second which you can see in the video because it was so unexpected.
A word about the website. Nowadays people judge on all aspects of your company not only the products but your website as well. I just need to point a few things that need correction. The about menu is not finished that needs to be addressed also I've seen a few misspellings. I'm guilty of that myself but it still needs to be corrected.
So, I had a great shave with Calle Ocho a wonderful tobacco scented shaving soap. Maybe after your shave you can smoke your favorite cigar and play some dominos.
