Texas Moss vs. G20 Scuttle

Post by Bill_K »

Gentlemen:

With my 60th birthday rapidly approaching, I've decided to spoil myself and order a scuttle; my top two contenders are the Texas Moss and the G20.

Question: if you have the Texas Moss, do you lather in the scuttle, and if so, does the inner bowl rattle against the outer? (I'm concerned about eventual breakage.) Right now I'm drawn to the G20 because of the choice in colours and the fact that the inner and outer bowls are one.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Bill, welcome to SMF and I hope you have a very Happy 60th Birthday!

I'm not a scuttle user, so I can't help you there, but I'm sure someone more qualified to respond will chime in.

My impression, from Sara's site, is that the Texas Moss does not have a loose inner bowl. Rather it appears in the images to be like the regular Moss Scuttle, which is fused.

Thanks, Murray and John! I'll have a closer look at the Moss (I could email her directly, I suppose).

Sorry, I should have posted links to both:

http://www.georgetownpottery.com/store/ ... de=Shaving

I did reach out to Sara yesterday afternoon via the form on her Web site and was pleasantly surprised to see a response this morning. She did confirm that the inner and outer bowls are fused, so now I'm leaning strongly towards her product with the "Robbie Burns" finish.

Thanks, I hope so! I just put in my order.

The sad part is, I promised my wife that I'd leave it in the box until my birthday (end of April). Until then I'll have to be satisfied with peeking at its Cobalt Blue awesomeness from time to time.

I do intend on doing a review, though.

That constitutes an adequate reason to changes wives in most states and all shaving forums.
