Looking for a "Cool" cologne
Looking for a "Cool" cologne
No, I don't mean a Marlon Brando/Steve McQueen scent..
Most, if not all of my colognes, I consider warm:
California North Signature EDT
GFT Astor
Burberry London
Floris Santal
GFT Sandalwood
I've got a sample of GFT Wild Fern that I like, and I may get that.
Any other ideas?
Thanks gents.

Not really sure what I mean, to be honest. It's just that all of the colognes I own seem very warm on my skin (not burning, but that they have a nice warmth to them). I was looking for something a little different.Brett G wrote:John,
I'm not sure what you mean by "cool"? Are you referring to scents that are best worn in cooler weather, a scent that has some kind of cooling effect, or one that evokes a cool mood?
I guess I'll obtain some Wild Fern. To me, that's more of a cool cologne, because it doesn't exude a bright warmth like the ones I own.

Davidoff Cool Water? Maybe it's not esoteric enough; it's a more common fragrance. I tried a sample bottle of it, and while I'm not sure it was quite to my liking, it was inoffensive. It is more modern but still isn't really "ultra-modern", the fragrance is not aquatic/ozone, but neither is it heavy. It's somewhat "mildly woody"

Re: Looking for a "Cool" cologne
I was given a bottle of Davidoff Cool Water as a Christmas present many years ago, I think in the early 90s. By far I received more compliments about it from attractive women than any other after shave I have ever used.Magnulus wrote:Davidoff Cool Water? If it's good enough for Snoop-Dogg, it's good enough for you, fo' shizzle.GA Russell wrote: I was given a bottle of Davidoff Cool Water as a Christmas present many years ago, I think in the early 90s. Seriously, it smelled good. I can't imagine anybody hating that cologne. It'll probably go down in history along with Old Spice, Brut, etc. Plus it's not super-expensive stuff.

Another one just came into my line of sight: Creed Virgin Island Water. Lime, rum, coconut. Bit like wearing Sailor Jerry. But splendid stuff -- fresh, clean, light but lasting. Cost = 1 arm + 1 leg but I think worth it. Perfect for summer.

Davidoff Cool Water - imagine no more. Hated by me.
Creed's fragrances should be sampled, folks either love them or hate them and they're expensive. I have not cared for any of their citrus fragrances. Others love them.
Good fragrances for warm weather (having a cooler profile) are citrus scents and lighter marine scents. Some very nice ones for warmer weather that I wear:
Penhaligon's Castile (bergamot/rose)
Acqua di Parma Colonia (citrus/rose)
Parfums de Nicolai Cologne Nature (citrus/rose)
I Profumi di Firenze's Agrumi di Sicilia (lime/grapefruit) and the Brezza di Mare (marine, but nice and light, more casual)
