Hello Mark,
Thanks for kicking things off for us this first week of 2006!
I like Coates as well. But it smells like a musty attic or really old books. Not a bad scent, only unique.
For me, it was Tabac today, and back to the DE for a while.
Cheers,
Richard

PS Where are you located, Mark?

Well, guess thats why traditional shaving can be such a personal, customizable thing. I'm one of those weird people who actually like the smell of tea tree (as long as its not too strong). On the other hand, I don't care for the scent of Tabac at all; though if we're on the subject of German shaving creams, I really like Speick!Coche_y_bondhu wrote:I like Coates as well. Upon consultation with Richard & John:
Proraso Pre & Dopa Barba
Trumper Sandalwood
Old Caswell Massey Best badger brush (Have to ask you gents about this thing. It's 18 years old, and it looks like a re-branded Vulfix. Another post.)
Merkur Futur w/ Feather Blade
Merkur moustache & beard razor (I have neither, but it's great for catching those whiskers underneath your nose.)
Floris Cefiro EDT, shower gel, shampoo, moisturiser.

Happy New Year to you all.
My first shave of the new year.....
Merkur Futur w/ Feather blade
Bic metal for upper lip and light touchup
Simpson's PJ1 Best badger brush
Coates Tea Tree cream (tube)
QED DaVinci water
CAR Peppermint a/s balm (sample)
New Spice (4 spritzes)
This was my first time using the Coates Tea Tree (I've used the almond before). Have to say that this stuff lathers very well and is very lubricating. The shave today was 100% irritation free.
I don't know if I'll ever use another razor other than the Futur. There just may be a big "Gillette Razor blowout sale" coming soon.

Crabtree & Evelyn Sienna (shave soap)
Shavemac SMF brush
Merkur Progress/Israeli Personna
Thayer's Witch Hazel
Trumpers Skin Food
Fine, fine shave today--I've been "faceterbating" all morning . The C&E Sienna continues to impress me; I kinda wish I would've gotten the cream instead of the soap though, as the cream lather is easier to keep warm. First pass at 2.5 on the Progress, second pass at 3, and third pass at almost 4. Helluva close, comfortable shave without a nick or cut.
