Cologne recommedations

Post by cryhavoc »

I love my Pinaud Clubman but it is long lasting. I was wondering if anyone knows of a cologne that complements it?

Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve might do the trick.

Clubman followed by Special Reserve? Those two scents clash in my nose, but thanks for the idea.

Jay, consider YSL Rive Gauche PH. This or some of the big fougeres from the late 1970s or early 1980s should do well - Paco Rabanne, Azzaro PH, etc. Similar old-school fougere with ambery undertones.

I would agree that Special Reserve would clash.

Also, a dark horse but very inexpensive is Fred Hayman Touch for Men. Discontinued but goes for cheap on eBay and some of the online scent discounters.

Best,
Tim

Penhaligons Racquets has a Clubman vibe to it IMO. Never tried together though.

I agree. If you want to do it on the "cheap" side then Dana's Canoe would do nicely as well.

I find Canoe to be the closest facsimile.

I'm glad to see someone else here likes Paco Rabanne.

Me too! Bought my first Paco Rabanne in Ibiza in 1983 and have enjoyed it since.

I've got some Canoe coming from a forum member, so I'm going to give that a shot.

Hermes Equipage Cologne. I have used this since about 1970 ... when it was introduced in Europe and later in North America. Originally, it was a full line of Equipage products but seems to be down to only colognes and after shave. I still have 14 bars of Equipage soap that I use sparingly and am not sure I will be able to find any more after these are finished ... about 3 - 4 years from now but I am 81 and may not be here then so I use it daily.

Update: I now have 28 bars of Equipage soap; I found a place that had a few left and I bought them all. I told my wife that if I die before they are used to destroy them because I did not want some other idiot using my soap ... and she said "what makes you think I would marry another idiot!!!"
