Mass-market AS Balms?

Post by Odio Barbillas »

Lately, no matter what, I'm experiencing razor burn, regardless of what I do or use.

I don't have a lot of dough and can't afford too many artisanal products. I just bought Mama Bear shave soaps; enough!

Can anyone recommend an off-the-shelf brand of balm that is both unscented and non-alcohol based? I can't pay US $10 for a fluid oz of this stuff. Surely there must be an alternative?

Hm. Really? If "Sensitive" means "unscented" I shall consider this! Thanks!

+ Nivea Sensitive - available just about everywhere and if you are thrifty you might not ever need to consider any other aftershave balm.
Good shaving,

Well, this is probably not what you're going to want to hear but here it is: It's probably best to start with the lathering medium (cream or soap) and mastering it or identifying one that's easier on your skin. That and your shaving technique, make sure it's as gentle as can be for now. From there once you've mastered those two the balm will only help you to recuperate. YMMV.

The nivea is great. I also like proraso pre-shave (as an aftershave). It is also pretty cheap and the tub lasts forever. I usually apply it after my aftershave splash or balm. It really really helps get rid of any shaving bumps quick. It also prevents them from forming. YMMV

The Nivea balm is great. The scent is so light that you can even slap it on after you've applied aftershave.

I find the stuff to be top notch. Since I don't often need to use it, the bottle is not yet emptied.

Hours after using it my neck and face feel smooth and not at all greasy. On my face, BTW, the scent lingers for hours. Luckily, it's pleasant. But eventually I will switch to an unscented product.
