I'm going to rummage through the cabinet to see if I've got something to fit the season. Can't think of any off the top of my head, but maybe I've got something that'll make do, if I decide to use a fragrance now and then. I use a touch of fragrance after the morning shower but don't use a fragrance following the evening shave. I think I even have a bottle of Speick on the shelf somewhere. I almost forgot that one.

Re: Ok, fall and winter scent time
I had another blast at the Kurkdjian Lumière a couple of days ago. That's the one I'd go for, I think. It's witty without being silly; it's rosy; it lasts well, it projects enough to entertain the wearer and not enough to perplex the Innocent Bystander, and its sillage leaves an interesting trail like the benign auras in Stephen King's Insomia. Re: Ok, fall and winter scent time
Please help me... has the Creed Orange Spice been discontinued?
Have a friend in retail and she says it has been really difficult to obtain
at the store level.
It is not clear to me that it was ever sold at her store or whether she only
inquired because of my interest. Her description from memory was dead on
what was described here, but maybe she was describing it from sales-
training literature she remembered.
Also, is Orange Spice only a cooler weather fragrance or is it suitable for
warmer, more humid climes as well? Since her current job is in FL, perhaps
it explains why the buyer doesn't stock it regularly.
Many thanks,
jr/John

Oops!...my bad. I was in the mall today where our Neiman Marcus is located ( which is the only stockist of Creed in this area ) and I could have checked with the fragrance dept. manager....but didn't. Next time I'm down there I will try and remember to inquire regarding the Orange Spice.

Gordon,
Thanks...I'll probably end up at Saks in Naples in the near future and I'll check them too.
Oh for the days working in NYC, where bloomingdales had EVERYTHING!

Re: Ok, fall and winter scent time
Michael: I found Chergui for $60, a tester, and got it ordered. A bit sweet, but at that price, I will use it.
My thoughts are changing. May have to wait on the Absolue pour le Soir
Thinking the Rose 31 (year round but you say that the Lumiere works better) is more widely liked, but the value and hidden surprise may be the Lumiere. Seriously thinking that.
Also on my radar: L'instant de Guerlain Pour Homme (Lidg) and the Eau Extreme version (LIDGE) and then Frank Los Angeles No. 2. Sartorial.
Frank: Frank No. 2 has a warm mix of elements built on some light woods. The plum cognac note is noticeable but otherwise I have trouble identifying the statement that is being made with it. It is just a nice smelling assemblage of fruit, woods, lavender, and coffee

Two scents with at least some rose that I like are Amouage Homage and Tribute. They seem to hold up better than may others. Homage is especially good IMO.

What? Cheap? Went there and Creed Orange Spice was $114+ for a spay bottle. Way out of my league fellas. My def. of cheap is under $25 on ebay or similar. I even splurged at about 50 bucks each for New York and Le Troisieme Homme, and I felt guilty for that.

Re: Ok, fall and winter scent time
I see mention of the Le Labo brand here. I know only one thing about them - they have taken over the little bottles and soaps in the bathroom in Fairmont hotels, and they are rubbish - at least the little bits of dreck they sell to Fairmont are rubbish. This may be Fairmont's way of discouraging my wife from stealing every little bottle from every room she stays in. I hope the scents you are discussing are several orders of magnitude better.

Vetiver Guerlain Paris is a favorite of mine for the cold weather and has a fresh woody scent with spice mixed in. Sam of course, is our voice of experience.

Re: Ok, fall and winter scent time
Got a sample of the Lumiere Noir pour Homme by Kurkdjian. Michael is spot on. Also, I prefer the APOM pour femme over the men's version. That orange blossom is nice.
However, 70 ml of that stuff is like $175.00. I instead bought Le Labo Rose 31 50ml for $84 shipped in a split with someone.

I like Tom Ford - Tuscan Leather and Tabacco Vanille, Malle - Dries Van Noten, Creed - Royal Oud, Slumberhouse - Ore and Norne and Jeke. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Just to lower the tone a bit, my wintertime goto is Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum. Very warm, very masculine, women hate it and cheap. Don't know if they hate it because of the scent or because they know it is cheap. Anyway, I find it just right when it gets really cold out.
