On the cheap - Favorite A/S's under $10.00?

Post by Shave4Fun »

I recently rediscovered my love for vintage type aftershaves that are still in production.
Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue and the A/V Musk
Also, even though the formula has changed, Old Spice
Brute splash-on lotion

What are some of yours?

I used Pinaud Clubman this morning, Gary! Can't believe I left it off the list.
Senior moment?

I have several good cheap scents. Prince Matchebelli New Musk is just 10. Barbon after shave which I purchased based on a review here. Old Spice Fresh Lime. Others too but that should keep your thread going.

I've been enjoying Barbasol's Brisk aftershave. I forget what I paid for it, I think it was about $1.99 for a bottle.

Just grabbed a Rite Aid blue after shave (a knock off of an Aqua Velva* variant??) "on sale" for $5.99.
Will throw it into the trial rotation next shave.
Was looking for Mennen Skin Bracer or a knock off but didn't find anything.
Both used years ago but no clear memory of either.
Interest stimulated by this thread!

Edit: The Rite Aid blue says "compare to Aqua Velva Ice Blue," so there you go.
Also found Mennen Skin Bracer on Amazon but have no idea if the prices are fair
or not, but most were well under $ 10

I'll have to add Mennen Skin Bracer to my list. I have some in glass bottles but it is currently in production. One just has to hunt for it.

Well, I don't use such products as actual 'aftershave', alcohol content is way too high for my freshly shaved skin, but as far as scent is concerned, and if I had to keep the price in that range, then Pinaud Clubman and AV Musk would be the ones. Not bad scents really. I loved the Trumpers Fougena when it was still available and it always struck me as like a cross between Clubman and Wild Fern. It was nice stuff.

Old Spice knockoffs found at the dollar store, in particular the Rite Aid "renewal" one, I bought 6 bottles.
Agua Lavanda in the big bottle - cost more than $10, but for the amount you get it definitely falls in this category.

I've only tried Aqua Velva Ice Blue in the glass and plastic bottles. Correct that, I also tried the AV Musk which to me was a concoction of rancid Jovan Musk Oil from the 70s mixed with brown sugar (sorry, Gordon. And Squire.). I used it to sully the local sewage system. Sticking with the Ice Blue although I'm thinking of trying Skin Bracer.

Frost Lime is my favorite variation, followed by the Ice Blue and the Menthol.

I never cared over much for the original Aqua Velva blue, but Skin Bracer wasn't/isn't too bad. Old Spice, even the original version, was never my thing but their take on 'Lime' appealed to me more. Hardly Royal Yacht Lime, you understand, but useable.

For years Mennen skin bracer was my favorite after shave. That was back in the day when the Mennen company put it in glass bottles. I had an 8 oz. bottle.
