I just spent an hour or so replenishing products in the active rotation from my stock. I'm sorry to say it's the end of line (at least for me i think) for some great classics: C&E sweet almond oil, Speick balm and Atkinson's EL.

I haven't been able to find any. There are some bottles of a reformulated version on ebay sometimes. Based on a post on another forum linking to an Italian vendor, I ordered 8 x 12 ML bottles. Since I'd received nothing after about 2 months I disputed the cc charge and it was reversed by Visa. Alas no juice but at least I got my $40 back. Cambridge no longer carries it.

Malocchio, do you know if that vendor will ship to the USA? I am wondering if the current regulations that prevents Connaughts etc from shipping alcohol to the US are EU regulations that apply here. I am hopeful that they are not.

It's a shame Cambridge no longer carries this. Is it possible that any contract that allowed for the US manufacture has run out? The Italian stuff is good but slightly different (at least the iteration of it I have) but almost unnoticeable. It seems to have a "tea" note in it that is slightly stronger than the former US version. It won't put me off when I need to renew my supply. I'm just worried that I won't be able to renew it.

As with many things we love in this hobby it seems that once again something that was ubiquitous and cheap, yet high quality, is no longer available and expensive when it is.

Ce la vie.

That was an interesting little article...I couldn't figure out how to access the base article to which it referred however. Yes, 1799 is usually the date given for the foundation of the Atkinson's firm in London. What brought his company to the attention of the upper crust first is said to have been his top self rose scented bear grease ( for the hair don't ye know? ). However there's no reason to doubt that the firm offered a 'lavender water' from early on as such scents were popular during the Regency. I wish I knew more. And, FWIW, I too have found the current Italian made version as being slightly different from the old US bottled product that Cambridge Chemists used to stock. I still have some of that and I've also tried the Brazilian version which was a little different yet again.

Gordon

The 12 ml lotion is a hair lotion. Very nice & the same great scent as the EDT.
Best regards,

Do you know if the balm the same as the old one that came in a bottle? I thought that it had been reformulated with menthol. I like the old rather brackish scent of the one that used to be in a bottle. If the tube is the same, I'd be glad to buy some. Thanks, Rick

I am not sure if they still have the balm in the original scent, but the alcohol based aftershave has not changed a bit. You might try asking Shoebox Shaveshop.
