Persian Jar Brush

Post by clownjuggles »

I just ordered my first true silver tip brush. A Simpson Persian Jar number 2. I ordered it from Lee's Safety razors and Lee was very helpful. I ordered it on Thursday so now the wait begins...

It arrived on Tuesday. Sadly, I was in Chicago so i didn't get it for another 3 days. I have so far tried it with Taylors and my beloved castle forbes. It did a fantastic job building the lather. and dried out very quickly after rinsing. I will post a longer review later when i am more awake...

Ahh, another Persian Jar fan. :D

When I was in Austin visiting Charles Roberts the other week I got to play with a number of Simpson brushes. I didn't care for the Chubby line at all, but ohhhhhhh, the Persian Jar 3 (and even the PJ2) felt soooo good in my hand. I'll put one on my Christmas list (hey, it could happen...).

Yeah,

I think I can say that I got a Simpson brush without any influence by cetain retailers. I am not a big fan of someone telling me who to do things that is why I wouldn't ever go in for anything like that. Life is a journey and I think it should fun figuring things out for yourself!

The PJ2 the only deciding facter for me was that i knew it would be silvertip without dispute and it was the right price.

I will say that now since i have been using it for a while that the brush has opened up and is now holding a lot more water. And the lather is exploding. I do have to think that Simpson is an ideal brush for Castle Forbes. The combination of those two or a similar brush ie. Plisson or the elusive rooney would make for a wonderfully enjoyable morning!

Mark, They are certainly a very useful brush. I am looking at the vulfix 38 now just for sheer insanity.... I figure build the lather with a soap and just go to town!

Well,

I think I may not end up keeping the PJ2. the silvertip has a pointier hair (only way i can describe it) It helps make the lathering fast that is all i can think but my skin is so sensitive that it is aggrivating the hassle.

Mr. Winkle:

What's there to say about what you paid ... you "stole" the brush at $35.00. I would reckon this model on average is around $170.00.

Sorry, Sam, PJ1 in Super bager averages around $170.00 in the U.S. ... I would guesstimte the PJ1 in Best to average around $125.00. But even at $125.00, you got a GREAT deal.

can anyone comment on how stiff the best badger in simpsons is compared to say the kent bk8? one thing i notice is that with the handmade simpsons, you dont feel a plug at the base of the knot of the hair, and that the handles do seem to be well done. i have had two other badger brushes: a crabtree and evelyn made by edwin jaegger in best badger and the kent brush. the kent is real soft and was from the get go. the crabtree was a stiff brush but loosened up. i have not wetted the simpsons yet, but it feels stiff against the face

boy, a persian jar one brush is really, really small. the bristles are not as soft as a kent, but heck, they are like any other badger brush i have rubbed over my face. glad that this is a travel brush, i got it for $35.00 in best badger. its my first simpson, but i prefer my kent
