I am trying to identify this shaving brush. The handle is made of plastic but I do not know who made or what type of hair the brush is made from.
A little history about it, this brush originally belonged to my Dad who used it every day for over 40 years. My Dad passed away in 2004 at the age of 89 and I can remember when he brought it home for the first time, I believe I was 10 years old at the time. I may not be exactly accurate with the time frame of the brush but I know it is rather old.
So if any of you brush aficionados can give me bring me up to date on this brush that would be outstanding.
Thank you,

I don't know what the knot material is, but the handle looks like an Ever-Ready.

It is indeed an EverReady brush. Model C40 to be exact. I have one in my rotation. And yes the knot is boar.

After 40 years of use that's still a nice brush. Do you plan to use it or put it ina place of honor in your shave nook? That's too cool to have something like that from your dad.

I saw an identical brush at an antique shop in Burlington Vermont over the past weekend. My wife wanted me to buy it, but I decided against it. Handle was in so-so condition, the knot needed replacing -- it looked original to me - the knot that is - and it definitely was not usable in that state.
Yours looks rather nice to me.

That looks like my first brush. I tossed it when I turned to badgers. Then I had to try a Semoque. So it goes.

If that brush was used every day for forty years, your dad must have taken exceptional care of it. It look very nice for a brush with that much use. It certainly deserves to be displayed in a place of honor.
