The Colonial Collection

Post by M6Classic »

From the private brush collection at Colonial Drug. Sadly, none of these brushes...mostly display items...are for sale. For reference, the second brush from the right on the top shelf is a Plisson #20 HMW. I do apologize for the picture quality, I had only an iPhone and no real camera.

Buzz, did you handle it? Is it similar to yours?

No, I didn't handle it, but is is exactly the same as the one I bought for my son and as the brush I retired in 2005. My present brush is a #24 HMW in plexiglass. In a breathtaking act of maturity, my son has not taken his Plisson to college; he uses a Chubby 3 (Manchurian) in his dorm...where did he ever get such good taste in shave gear?

Buzz, thanks for bringing in this amazing display. It took me a while to get the right perspective and proportion, to see just how enormous these fabulous brushes are. I finally was able to see the cardboard box that holds 1K of Cella sitting there, dwarfed by each and every one of these gorgeous giants. Wow.

Buzz are they using the display to showcase other brushes in stock?

Here is a quick shot of the lower part of the same cabinet, Squire.

In my last thread on Colonial I had some better pictures of many of these brushes. Cathie and P.J. are still setting up and I am sure they will be showing more in their densely packed space.

Neat Buzz, thanks. I could really be tempted by that beehive on the lower shelf.

Well, Squire, if you call 617-864-2222, your temptation can be converted to nearly immediate gratification!

Squire, here's a blow-up of the beehive from an earlier photograph.

It would be a perfect smaller brush for someone who doesn't like his knots too tightly packed.

I've never gone broke buying shave gear. Sunglasses seem to be my Waterloo.*
