No, originally it was the tip, when all the empty shelf spaces were filled with vintage Somerset Simpsons. But now they're nearly all sold off, and the brushes in these images are the majority of my current collection.Rufus wrote:What a collection , but is it just the tip of the iceberg?

Where is Rooney based out of?
Re: Rooney Revisited
Manchester at the moment ... actually, he lives in Chesire with most of his teammates ...... but, one never knows when a transfer window will see him go elsewhere.CarterP wrote:Where is Rooney based out of?
Sorry gents, I simply couldn't resist. Don't get me going on a ManU rant given our form this year.
Rooney sell out of the UK, but their country of manufacture remains a bit of a mystery. Last I heard, they were covertly being made in China, but I have nothing to substantiate that statement.

Re: Rooney Revisited
Carter, Well, Wendell's right, we really don't know for certain today. RA Rooney was the oldest English brush making firm ( originally Irish actually ), even older than Kent. The firm had all but died when Lee Sabini came on board in the early 2000s and revived it. The brushes were made in England and the two that I have say that point blank on the handles; 'Made in England'. Several years back I know that Lee was considering moving the manufacturing to Bulgaria but decided against that. Supposedly they are still made in the UK but you can see that some seem to doubt that. Unlike with Simpson we never had a specific mailing address for Rooney once the old shop in London's East End was closed in the early 2000s. Or perhaps we do but I am unaware of it.

I have been lucky to have two or three Rooneys, and I too enjoy "revisiting" them quite often!

Thank you for the history on them. It was quite helpful!

Shrek. I wonder about his lineage too. Wendell, you'll just have to change your allegiance to the Gunners, or, heaven forbid, Man. City.jww wrote:Manchester at the moment ... actually, he lives in Chesire with most of his teammates ...... but, one never knows when a transfer window will see him go elsewhere.CarterP wrote:Where is Rooney based out of?

Re: Rooney Revisited
Are you talking about the guys that kick that funny looking round ball.

I think they find that round balls roll better.Johnny wrote:Are you talking about the guys that kick that funny looking round ball.

Round balls don't look funny. That's the general idea, isn't it?

Michael, that was one of my most expensive purchases and started the Brush addiction journey. At the time, every high quality brush was compared to the Rooney. So, why not just buy a Rooney. The brush very soft and had perfect backbone and a great handle design. It, thankfully found a great home. Thanks for the picture and post. DougAntique Hoosier wrote:It is stuffed!
