My September 2014 Brushes

Post by churchilllafemme »

Well, I've pared down my collection quite a lot from the previous 100 or so brushes. This is what I have left, all Rooney Finests except for two ivory-handled Rudy Vey specials.

And what, do tell, does one do with so many brushes still?

I am in awe and carry feelings of great envy.

I use all them in a rotation, so each comes around about twice each month. And in between, they dry well, and I have the pleasure of gazing at them.

John, I'm sure each one is a joy to have and hold. So, is this enough or are you hoping to add more . . .

Well, yes and yes. It certainly is enough for me, but I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to pick another one or two.

I think my favorites are a couple 3/2s, one in ebony and the other faux horn. They fit perfectly in my hand, and they have identical 24mm/54mm knots that make them work well with both soaps and creams.

There is a Stubby 1 in there, as well as a 1/2 and a 1/3, which are pretty much the same as a Stubby.

Very impressive collection. To this day, I still kick myself for not picking up a Rooney 3/1 finest in faux ivory when they were still on the market instead of that 3 banded heritage stubby 2 I had gotten that I hated and eventually gifted to my father in law. Oh well.

Beautiful brushes, John. I also love my 3/2, although mine has a higher loft, around 60mm.
