I vote for any Simpson brush. I own a Super Polo 12 and can testify to the fine craftsmanship and durability that comes with a Simpson. It's a huge, densely packed brush and I enjoy it very much.

True, Kent and Vulfix are highly regarded. I just don't have much experience with those brush makers.

Peter-- You're probably not getting many responses because very few people have first-hand knowledge of all those brushes! 8)

Simpsons is the "gold standard" of course, but I've seen nothing but positive comments on all the others as well.

If money is no object go for the Simpsons. If you want value choose the Vulfix.

i saw that recently a bk8 was added. i got one from the gentleman's shop. it is so soft and after a couple of uses, it really blossomed or mushroomed out. i would have had no problem with a vulfix, but i had read where it tended to be a little less soft. i thought the BK8 was gonna be too big, cause i had a 4 inch edwin jaegger made (for crabtree and evelyn) that was good. well, the kent holds a ton, i mean a ton of water.

I think my next brush will be a Kent. My Simpson has really stiff bristles. This provides a nice effect and lifts the beard hairs really well but sometimes I long for the softer bristle which I hear is a quality of Kent brushes.

If you want softer bristles go for the Kent. If you want something a bit "stiffer" then I think Simpson might be the better route to take.

vince has stated what i had heard. the bk8 is a big enough of a brush. you can always email the gentlemen's shop and ask them, but my bk8 is big and holds water. about $125 given the exchange rates and if you spend a few more bucks at the gentlemans shop, shipping is free. i justified that to get me a whole TUB of violet trumpers. vulfix is from what i heard a great brush but a bit stiffer. i saw a post that the chubby3 of simpsons is huge. i think the bk8 is a great compromise, but without compromising. that is, top of the line brush, not as expensive as simpsons

Pete,

That's an excellent choice! Don't forget to post a review and some pics when you get a chance!
