BeatlesFan, I think you slightly misunderstood what I meant. You would clearly be in the 60%; the 'I like 'em....good blade for me' group. So, that bunch is cut and dried. The interpretation involves those 20% or so of gents who voted, 'so-so'. THEY are the ones I'm interpreting as meaning they are, 'okay.....acceptable...'. So, put those two groups together and you have around an 80% positive response, vs. only 20% definately negative. This is pretty much what I would have expected just from reading posts and SOTD entries. No, alas, the Derbys didn't go down that well for me, but I know I'm in the decided minority on this one, which is why I don't argue when they are recommended to newbies, even though I, myself, usually suggest the Israeli Personnas in that situation. Probably should try them again some time.
Regards,
Gordon

I found them just so so, and would like to give them a second shot after finding the wonderful Zorrik and Gillette 7o'clock blades.

Warmest regards, Niksa

After trying the large sample pack from West Coast Shaving, I decided that Derby is my favorite blade regardless of price. They are sharp, forgiving and give a very smooth shave. I have bought 500 of them, shared them equally with a friend and have never looked back.

I am surprised but I really like them.
In my slim-adjustable they are superb.
Smooth. comfortable, very sharp. Just gives me a great shave.
I am happy I have found another blade that really works for me.
I also like the Wilkinson Economie, Astra Superior and the Gillette 7 O'Clock.

tried a few different blades in the last 4 months of DE shaving.
I would say derby is the blade for me.
Platinum 7 a.m was the worst.

sat·is·fac·to·ry
adj.
Giving satisfaction sufficient to meet a demand or requirement; adequate.

I would continue to shave if the only blade available to me were a Derby. If forced to use a Merkur, I would use it to open a vein.

I tried the Derbys about a year ago before settling down with my current favorite. At the time, I felt them to be mediocre at best. With all the good press, I felt it was worth trying them again.

My results this week were utterly satisfactory, very similar to the No-Name Israelis. While still not as good for me as Swedes, I could certainly live with them.

Derby is the blade for me. I get BBS shaves in 3 passes (and some touching up), and each blade is good for a week of shaves. I just bought 500 of them which should keep me going for the next 10 years.
