gillette adjustable - toggle

Post by TommyDawg »

Hi. I was in Boston this morning, checking out a vintage clothing store I had heard about. Looked in a case and noticed a gold tone gillette adjustable with a toggle bottom. I'm relatively new to the DE scene, so I dont know all the details to look for, but doors opened and closed fine, finish still good (needed cleaning, but I rubbed it some and it seemed to shine right up). Adjustable knob turned fine, but not sure what is supposed to move. I do not know where to look for a date code. Now the bad news. I was in a cash only establishment, with $20 in hand, and price was $25 (hadn't gotten my allowance yet  ). So, my questions... was $25 a fair price for this razor, and should I be kicking myself for not getting it? Thanks,
Tom D.

Get back to that shop and buy that razor!! $25 is a steal! They obviously so not know what they have there. What kind of condition was it in? post some pics if you decide to buy it. Go now move...

Tom just type in Gillette Toggle on ebay and you will see what other's go for. Also look at 'completed auctions'.

You NEED to go back and buy it A.S.A.P. For that price, they are just about giving it to you for free.

I was GOING to say that I never get down into Boston that often (I live in MA, but a good ways away), but I just remembered that I have a lunch meeting there coming up this Thursday. Hopefully I'll be able to make a side trip while I'm there...

Was not joking durnit, I would have paid $32.50, but not now, no sir, that was a time limited offer. If Tommy changes his mind tomorrow it's $29.95 tops.

As for our friend, Squire -- yep, I knew he was joking (or opportunistic, either way is fine) How much its worth is a good question. Worth is only determined by how much someone is willing to pay. I saw one go for $800+ on the bay, but not to say that is the standard or market price for it. So, thats a good question. They were only made in the one year...
