Squire's Blade Reviews

Post by george »

**** LINKS TO REVIEWS FIXED ON 7/16/18 ****

Now you can easily find Squire's helpful reviews again. I'll summarize his favorites here, starting from best and in approximate order: Feather, Super Iridium, 7 O'Clock SharpEdge yellow box, Wilkinson (British - out of prod), Wilkinson (India - current prod), 7 O'Clock Permasharp green box (India), Polsilver, Kai, Derby, Treet Classic Dura Sharp Coated, Gillette "Swedish," 7 O'Clock Super Stainless green box (Russia), Astra Keramic, Gillette Bleue Extra, Crystal (Personna), Supermax Platinum, Bic (Greece).

With the Treet blades you need to be careful to get the right ones, because there is so much overlap with their names. And one thing I got in general - "platinum" doesn't guarantee a superior blade, though some of the best ones use platinum.

Michael, thx for the post!
I am one of the people who asked for such a list, so thx for the effort! :)

As for the Tiger and Zorrick reviews: I don't mind the broken images, so as far as I'm concerned you can add them to the list ;)

I added the Tiger and Zorrick entries. You're most welcome. This isn't exactly a completely magnanimous effort -- I needed them all in one place for my own use, anyway...

Squire's reviews are what persuaded me to buy the Gillette sample pack from Giovanni. Thank, Squire.

I dare say that Squire is fast becoming the Walter Winchell of DE blades.

Thanks to Squire for the reviews and to Michael for compiling them.

Michael,

Thank you so much for going to the trouble to search all the posts and find just these threads. They will come in handy for me and I know others who are looking for a good blade.

Thanks must also go out to Squire for doing all the research for the reviews. I wonder how many times Squire sacrificed his great shaves just so he could use a blade that he may not like. All in the name of helping guys like you and me choose a blade.

This is awesome...I have found Squire's reviews very enlightening and consistent with my limited experience with the blades in my possession.
Thanks,

Being quite new to the forum I never noticed Squire's reviews of blades. Very interesting. Thanks to both.

Agree should be a sticky.

Hey, I just want to add that I am new here and Squire has been so incredibly helpful with his opinions and reviews - much to learn.

Squire makes me glad I have joined this group of good men who enjoy sharing their experiences about the richness of shaving.

Cheers! 8)

Methinks it may be time to consider a custom title for Squire. Given his chosen profession and affinity for blade evaluation, how about 'Blade Counselor'?

Most certainly, the thanks go to Squire! It only took me about 15m to make the post, he's putting in real time and effort to review the blades so methodically.
