Open Comb Razor

Post by clownjuggles »

Charles,

This is a question for you. You mentioned that a open comb is the closest thing to a straight razor in terms of blade exposure. Is that true even when compared to a vision razor?

Yes, I believe among DE razors the open comb is definitely the closest experience to a straight razor. The Vision is not an open comb, but it does have various settings. However, I cannot speak from personal experience about how the Vision - at maximum blade exposure - compares to an open comb. I would still suspect the open comb would be closest to a straight razor but I think we need to have a response from a person who has used both types of instruments. Perhaps Chris, or Joel.

Regards,
Charles

i have a vision and now a merkur open comb. for me, visually and after a shave, i would say the vision has more blade exposure. i think the open comb would be about half way on the vision's adjustability scale
