HMMM.... What can I do with this rattlesnake skin?

Let's talk about single and double edged razors and the blades that they use.

HMMM.... What can I do with this rattlesnake skin?

Post by eskimo »

OK, I know it's not a question we have to ask ourselves often, but there I was with this Diamondback Rattlesnake skin and way too much time on my hands.

Even though it is harmlessly encased in clear resin and its' previous owner is nowhere to be found, my wife clearly let me know, "Not in my bathroom".

So, for your viewing pleasure, below is a picture of a Merkur 34C with a handle made from a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake skin.

Now, where did I leave that alligator belt?

Happy Father's Day,

Nice! Now how about a matching brush handle?

That is the coolest razor ever, it's a shame your wife doesn't appreciate it!

I had a rattlesnake head (encased in resin) paperweight. The note that came with it said not to break it open and eat the contents. Strangely enough, even though I had never considered it, that made me want to do it.

Razor handle looks terrific! It's a good thing that the previous owner didn't need it anymore.

Killed an 8 foot rattle snake once on a firing range and skinned it out and preserved the skin. A friend wanted it so I gave it to him. He had it made into a hat band. Looked real good. Never saw one made into a handle for a razor...real unique. Can't understand why the wife would be upset, no insult intended, but she probably has some throw pillows or (ugh) curtains that you really don't like (I know my wife does).

Good job on the razor...

Enjoy your shave... :D

Wow, that is sweet! Did your turn it or just pour the resin? The finish looks amazing. That skin would be the perfect "scales" for a straight!

Thanks for the kind words. The resin was poured around the skin into a block then turned on a lathe. A whole lot of sanding and buffing results in the glossy finish.
