Let's talk about single and double edged razors and the blades that they use.

bluebird blades

Post by MadAussie »

anyone used these? I'm picking some up from best grooming tools (getting one of those nice looking nickel razor cases)...

I've seen tell they are derbys in different packaging?

anyone tried these and like em better than derby blades?

they even say "tungsten chromium cermaic platinum" blagh so I'm guessing they are derbys in disguise.

I have heard the same thing. If you have Derbys, you can give us a direct comparison. Keep us posted.

Yes, please let us know - I had seen a comment elsewhere (can't remember where but I think it was on this forum) that they are from the same company (possibly even same factory) but are a step up in quality over the derbys.

I have them on my list to buy, so would be interested in your findings.

If they ARE better quality than derby I'd be surprised that they would make them for another company to sell, as opposed to selling them and giving the derby's to the other company...

time will tell

Different brands appeal in different markets I guess, if they are Derbys in disguise only a direct comparison will tell.

My mistake. Nothing about same company, etc.

I think this is the thread I was thinking of

http://www.shavemyface.com/forum/viewto ... =blue+bird

Don't know where I imagined that information. Bats in the belfry. Or maybe it's birds.

If melyus says they are made in same factory, same blade etc, I'd believe it. time will tell as in all things.

so, ya, looking at it, 100% identical to a Derby, just nicer packaging ;) Glue spots in spame place, same wax paper, same plastic dispense, same mold, same smudgy printing on the blade. No different discenrable tooling marks.

But.. the bluebird does not have that oily smell the derby blade has.

I'll reserve my judgment until Squire weighs in with his review. The photos of the blade edge should provide the definitive answer.

I have not shaved with it, but I would expect the same machine makes both brands. I am waiting for my ikon to arrive before shaving with it to see how it goes.

I sent Bluebird blades to you on June 26. I mailed them to the office address you sent me. If you haven't received them I will put a trace on them with the PO.

PM sent.

Thanks for the offer Stu but let me see if the package Dex sent can be located. Half the staff in my Suite including the other attorney were out most of July on vacation, medical or family matters. John collects baseball memorabilia, occasionally gets small packages and the temp I hired may have tossed Dex's package into his box by mistake. They all got back on Monday and we have been too busy this week to stop for lunch. I will check on it tomorrow.

Found the Bluebird blades Dex, thanks. They had been delivered to the wrong Suite and the occupants there forwarded the package to the Postal Annex where I retrieved it today after Court. Thanks again.

They may look similar but definitely give out different shaves! I use many brands especially hooked on FEATHER but the Bluebird gives me a smooth shave with no nicks. I get about 3-4 shaves from each blade and look forward to the next shave! I don't get anywhere close with derby blades!!! So if they were made by the same company, why would they make an unknown brand engineered better than their flagship the derbys?
