Let's talk about single and double edged razors and the blades that they use.

I took a looksy at the pics Paul posted. It has a very utilitarian beauty to it, but as others $300 is a bit steep.

I'll wait for the long handle gold version.

Sort of puts things in perspective, yeah?

DOING THE DESCRIPTION IN CAPS AND USING EXCLAMATION POINTS PROVES HOW GREAT A RAZOR IT IS!

IF YOU USE NORMAL PUNCTUATION AND CAPITALIZATION NOBODY WOULD UNDERSTAND WHY THE RAZOR IS WORTH $1000!

I'm tempted to make an offer of $10.

One of our enterprising members with access to machining equipment (hi Bob) should get to work making some stands like that one, because it's very elegant and simple.

Personally if I'm going to pay $300 for a razor I expect at least one Harley Davidson transfer on it... :D

A vendor at B&B us selling this at 150$, which in my opinion is yet too high. I am still waiting for a definitive answer on the difference between this new razor and the feather portable.

I will not be surprised if they stopped the production of the portable to convert the assembly to make these razors - at least the head seems to be the same as the portable !!

I don't think they make the Portable any more. It's not listed on their website:

Paul, Thanks to you i am well stocked on the razor portables ! :D

I am guessing that they shut down the portable assembly line to manufacture this new razor. I am curious to know if the new razor head is the same as that of the portable ?

For a fraction of that kind of bread, I'm thinking that a replated Tech head and a custom handle from someone such as cooncatbob or a stainless steel from Ikon might do just as well or better. Ikon, either now or in the very near future, will be selling his new tech-like head design in stainless steel, along with a hefty handle.

Nice to see you back posting Michael.

Two new choices, Feather and Pils. Who needs Merkur or MP?

In all seriousness, the newer EJ/Muhle razor is all the DE I need.

Seller says date code F4, but it was made in 1956.

Seems wrong to me...I just sold an "F" razor...should be 1960. Unless special razors are different?

Or you could be like me and do both. Bob took care of the first part, and Pureslab is scheduled to take care of the second in June, in stainless steel, for what looks to be $100 or so less.

Oh yeah, looking at the pics on the vendor site posted, that is definitely a different head from the portable, much beefier.
