If you could keep just 2 razors which would they be?

Let's talk about single and double edged razors and the blades that they use.

Hmmmmmmmmmm!!!

I know that a M-E-R-K-U-R will be in the mix (Go Figure), but limiting me to two razors...

Merkur Hd, Merkur Progress, Merkur Barberpole, Merkur Vision, Merkur Futur, Merkur Slant, Merkur 1904, Merkur Long Classic, Hoffritz...

I can't take all of this stress.

And then there is the Gillette Fat Boy, Gillette Slim, Gillette Red Tip, Gillette Blue Tip, the Long Black Handle Gillette Adjustable, the Schick Kronna, the Gem G-Bar.

Crap now I'm really freeking out.

I hate these polls.

Maybe The Gillette Good News Razor and a pack of Bandaids...

I don't know...

Your original question sets out a scenario similar to one maybe a few of us have considered. Imagine one razor, not the luxury of two. That describes guys serving in the military, and other situations where there is only necessity, never any luxury.

I can tell you now that I'd probably stick to the Gillette Slim Adjustable. Maybe the Krona again, which was in fact my only razor when I was an enlisted man. So I've been there and done that, just like everybody else.

At that time, I had no practical need for another razor. If I'd been futzing around with two razors, the guys would have thought me to be something of an eccentric.

I could do it again if necessary, and so could anybody else, presumably, given the hypothetical motivation and applicable personal and social priorities.

My top two are actually four, Futur, Gillette Super Adjustable, Jagger Chatsworth and Schick Krona.

I hear you Gary! BTDT myself. Except I had some plastic razor with bands in it and I always got ingrowns from it. Nothing major, one or two, but they hurt as they grew out to autofix themselves.

If I had only known then what I know now!

My inherited Gillette Tech and Merkur 34C. The reason is that these gets the most use and others are just more or less collection these days.

I love my new R41 AND I love my iKon Long Handle OC. Right now these are my 2 favorites BUT I also love my Gillette Slim and Fat Boy, and my Merkur 38C. I also have a few SuperSpeeds that I load up now and then. Point being I just can't stay with just two DEs.

A Schick N2 injector would be a nice backup to my N1. I do miss DE shaving sometimes and suppose I should try a Feather SS someday.

For reasons of good shave, ease and safety, and variety of blade, I'd go with a Gillete adjustable and one of the later Schick injectors. I don't have time to decide exactly which Gillette, or which Schick.

That leaves out a lot of razors I like, mainly because they are 3-piece, such as the EJ and Gillette NEW.

Slim Adjustable. Though I prefer the Super, The Slim's long-term durability and repairability seems better.

Lord L6. Just for variety and to have a simpler, 3-piece razor that's replaceable, with a Merkur type head, and breaks down into a smaller travel package.

As of now,

Gillette LH Adjustable
Muhle-head Chatsworth

The latter may be replaced by an EJ with the identical head but a better grip. Or not.

My current two favorites are:

Merkur Futur
Merkur/Hoffritz 37C Slant

However, I have a Cooncatbob replated short toothed NEW head on one of his custom handles and it may soon displace the Slant.
