If you could keep just 2 razors which would they be?

Let's talk about single and double edged razors and the blades that they use.

If you could keep just 2 razors which would they be?

Post by ShadowsDad »

As I was writing this: http://www.shavemyface.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=48474 I realized that this question needed to be asked also, but I didn't want to confuse that thread, so here it is.

Qualifications, this is for shave quality on your face only. Disregard granddads razor that was handed down to you, unless that happens to be your best razor for shave quality. We'll assume the use of your chosen blades is a given.

Of those 2 best razors, can you pick your favorite?

For me, no doubt whatsoever, My Slim Adjustable and my OCMM. Simply my 2 most aggressive razors that yield my very best shaves. If I had to pare it down to just one, it'd be the OCMM, but it'd be very difficult to leave the Slim.

For me, at least at the moment, it'd be:

1. Short Comb NEW

2. EJ/Muhle head on about any handle. The Chatsworth handle is rather nice.

Much as I like a 1912 SE, I gotta go with the DEs.

OK, I'll play. I'd keep the same two razors I've owned for most of my shaving life, both of which I bought for myself when they were new, my Gillette Slim and my Schick Krona.

Right now it would be:

1. EJ Chatsworth Barley with the Muhle head

2. Feather All Stainless

I use mild razors:

1. iKon Bulldog with safety bars

2. Feather All Stainless

Right now, I'm using the iKon almost exclusively, so it would be my first choice.

I have over 100 razors, but now shave almost exclusively with two.

In order of preference:

iKon OC Deluxe Bulldog (mine is #07, brushed finish)

English long-comb NEW with iKon Bulldog handle

Chuck

One would certainly be my undated Gold Tech, but the second one is a bit more difficult. It would be a toss-up between one of my adjustables, or possibly my blue-tipped superspeed - but I would lean towards an adjustable I think.

Like Murray, an iKon Deluxe closed comb, and probably a '46/47 Aristocrat. Of all the razors I have, these two consistently shave the best.

I would keep the two I currently use the most: a Feather AS and a Wilkinson Sticky. The Wilkinson is great for the first 2-3 shaves with an NOS blade, then the Feather takes over for the rest of the shaves.

I'll keep the two razors that shave on different ends of the mild-aggressive spectrum for me, each with excellent results:
Feather AS
Merkur Futur

#1 is easy - My 40s Super Speed
#2 is tougher. It's a tossup between the HD, Z3, and the '47 Aristocrat.

I also have a Red Tip that never gets used so it wasn't even a candidate.

1948 Aristocrat

Schick Hydro 3

The Aristocrat is easily my favorite DE, and I could happily use it as my exclusive DE.

The Hydro is perfect for TSA travel and also for quick shaves.

Between the 2 razors, I'd have every situation covered.

But I'd miss the variety!
