Dollar Shave Club

Post by Dexterous »

I didn't see this posted so I thought I'd share.
Dollar Shave Club couldn’t be simpler. Select one of our great
razors, pay one low monthly fee, and we send ‘em right to your
door. No more over-paying for fancy brand name shave tech.
No more forgetting to buy your blades.

They are only doing cartridge razors. Nothing here for us DE shavers.

Very entertaining but I suppose the modest monthly fee doesn't include product.

Missed those Russ but I usually don't click on linked videos. I think Mark summed it up rather well.

Squire, I notice that the most expensive option (the Executive) is a six-blade cartridge.

The only six-blade manufacturer I'm aware of is Dorco with its Pace6. However, drusgstore.com sells a six-blade cartridge branded as Men's Zone.

I wonder if Dollar Shave Club has Dorco making all of its cartridges.

You may recall that I tested a Pace6 some months ago, and found that it was much better than I expected, though far too much for everyday use.

The $1 a month is a great concept, the problem is shipping is $2 a month, bringing your total cost to $36 a year, $12 for blades and $24 for shipping.

I think you are better off to spend $12 on blades and $5-7 for shipping, once a year. Effectively you are paying double what you need to, for the luxury of getting twelve shipments a year.

For those that like cartridges, these are some good ones for $10.75 for 24....

and shipping is free on order over $25.

I shave my head with a cartridge but my cartridge of choice is the Gillette Guard, I've yet to find a better cartridge for head shaving.

I'm pretty sure that if I didn't enjoy my present shaving process so much, I'd join for a buck.

Let's not be a spoil sport RR, after all he does have to pay for the commercial and bear food.

BTW, I learned about this service on the "Clark Howard Show" on CNN. Howard claims he is getting very clean shaves with a disposable razor he has used for months.

Here are the show notes for that claim.
