I'm really getting into my two Cadets, TP-24 and TP-26. The heft is right, their handles are long enough for me, and one head is OC and the other is with a safety bar. Mix 'n' match. :)

I like them at least as much as my Merkurs and all my other stockpiled goodies. =D>

I can't think of a time where I have used my Long Handle Progress and not thought, "Man, I love this razor!".

I probably replied earlier in the thread, but since then I have added a Progress to my arsenal. It's my first Merkur, and I really like it.

I've been using it daily for about two weeks. This is really a nice razor.

I posted earlier here, since then a couple of other DE razors have joined or at least paid a visit for a time. If updated, the list would read like this now -
  • Cobra Classic SE
    Barbasol Floating Head
'39 Gillette Tech triangular holes in the head plate, recently promoted from permanent box dweller to starlet with a great future
and last and not gaining much ground in the marathon, Muhle R41 Toothcomb

I am pretty much settled and using my Merkur 34 C, my first razor I had. It is still the best

We have been all heard of the quality control problems and somehow the Merkur gold colors 34 one is not for me.

Nor is the Tech from my uncle inherited as good. If i had to replace, my progress could be some, but nowhere as good.

Merkur Vision
Cobra Classic
Merkur Futur

Can't really pick one over another. All are very good for me.

1. Schick N1 injector
2. Schick N2 injector

I've decided to quit hoarding my dwindling supply of NOS blades and will be charging ahead, going out in a blaze of glory. Once finished it's up to the Chick blades, but I consider them so-so. If they flop then I'm SOL with injectors.*

*Mother of mercy, is this the end of Rico?

mikeny278 wrote:1. Merkur Slant HD
2. Merkur Open Comb HD

When I get tired of one, I switch to the other. Sometimes I work in my Merkur Classic Straight Bar, but it usually does not last too long in the rotation.
I got rid of my Slant and Merkur Classic and my new rotation is the Merkur Open Comb HD and the Weber razor with wave or bulldog handle. The Weber makes me want to find a stainless version of the Merkur open comb.

I don't know how many times I've already posted a response, but my top group of razors keeps on evolving. Here's the current favorites. I go by how close it shaves, and the absence of harshness (no blood, no post shave irritation).

Cobra Classic
Barbasol floating head
Above the Tie H
Progress LH set at 3.5

Have been using Merkur Open Comb for a week. WOW, really like.

Also fond of Bob Quinn (Elite Razor) and his unique handles and brushes and have started a collection. Bob Quinn is first class guy.

Have been trying many blades, probably a couple dozen different so far. The winners thus far, in no particular order, Astra, Sputnik, Shark and Merkur.

Still quite enamoured with my Gillette Slim ---- which I have used exclusively now for at least a year. I clean it once every week or two when I change blades, and continue to marvel at the performance of this razor. It's just that good. I keep it at 3 -- just because I have never bothered to change the setting. For me it's the balance between heft and dimensions that make this such a perfect razor.

Hmmm -- maybe I'll pull out my Chatsworth this weekend ...... :-k

Have settled on the ikon SB, ATT R1, and Weber DLC to the exclusion of most everything else.

Updated list:

Tradere OC - this was love at first shave.
************************
ATT (R1, H1, M1) - my most beautiful razor
Feather AC - most fun to use (I see this rising to the top)
Cobra - most efficient
EJ89 - mild, great razor
1958 Gillette TTO SS (birth year)
Futur - first razor, doesn't get much love these days, need to revisit.
*****************************
Merkur Slant - picked up a used one, have yet to try.

Update:

I liked the Mühle R89 but found the handle a little short so have moved on to an R89 Grande. Same head but a slightly heavier and longer handle.
