does gold make a difference?

just wanted to get an opinion from you guys. i have had numerous safety races in the last few years. gillettes, merkurs, muhles etc. i had a gold future a while back and really liked the color so i thought i would try a 34g. as it turns out, the 34 hd in gold is the best razor yet!! for some reason i get no weepers or nicks. the razor seems to glide better over my face. so the question is: do you think the gold plating makes a difference in performance?

Gil, I also have a 34G and use it quite often. It is my favorite razor. Never fails to give me a great shave. Now, regarding your question, I don't know if gold makes any difference. I really doubt it but the color sure is pretty.

well so far it does less damage than my 38 barber pole, original 34hd, 3 progresses, 3 futurs. gillette adjustables and red tip, 89 ejs, dr harris muhles, schick adjustables, etc,,etc,,,

I'm pretty sure any gold razor has a clear coating over the soft gold to protect it. I know that the Gillettes did. Any enhanced glide would probably be due to that coating, not the gold itself.
