Above The Tie M1

Post by Tucker »

I acquired an Above The Tie M1 Razor which is the mild safety bar. I've shaved with it four times using a couple of Polsilver Super Iridium Blades. It is beautifully machined out of stainless. It shaves very smoothly, and it is easy to find the blade angle. It is on the mild side, but causes me no irritation after three passes. Tomorrow, I'm going to try it with a Feather Blade. I would put it in the mild razor-needs a sharp blade category.

I have the M1 also. You're right about the quality -- it feels like a surgical instrument. Luckily, it is a mild razor without much risk of surgery.
Of the three different handles that are offered by ATT, I find the Kronos handle feels the best in my hand, but the Atlas (smaller) and Colossus (larger) are better looking. I think I prefer the shorter Atlas, and the barberpole knurling is gorgeous! I believe I'll sell the Colossus and keep the other two.

The Above the Tie S1 is another superb razor. An all stainless slant nearly as mild as the M1.
