What is your favorite DE blade brand?

(Roughly based on sharpness, smoothness, price, and longevity)

Gillette nacets are my favorite

Karl, I tried to pick 3 brands, but the poll rule doesn't allow it. I voted for Gillette because 3 of my favorite blades are the same brand - Gilletes (Swede, Super Stainless - The Spoiler - and the other of the brand Gillette is the Brazilian Platinum Plus). In addition, the second and third brands that are my favorites are Kai and Personna hospital use.

I voted "Gillette" and "Personna." (I'm assuming "Gillette" to include all P&G brands, which I believe includes Astra.)

My favorite "Gillette" blade is the Perma Sharp Super. I also like the Gillette Rubie and the old Super Iridium. I'm sure I would like a lot of others if I tried them, also.

My favorite "Personna" blade is the Med Prep/Hospital Use blade.

Honorable mention goes to the Treet Dura Sharp blade, made of PTFE-coated carbon steel.

Other in my case is super iridium, second only to Feather in my rotation.

We might need a definition of "Gillette" for the purposes of this poll. Under this heading, I include Perma Sharp Super, Super Iridium, Astra, Polsilver, etc, as do some vendors. These other name brands are all owned by Procter & Gamble, along with Gillette, and are made in the same St Petersburg plant in Russia.

Surprised to see feather topping the charts. I know a lot of gents love them, but most don't use them daily

p.s. my 'real' favourite is the wilkinson 'light brigade' but only because of the packaging

Vintage Wilkinsons are my favorite. I find the new ones terrible.

MY favorite blade of all time is the Personna 74. Most decent blades suit me fine, but this one really stands out from the rest.

By favorite I put the ones I use the most - Feathers and Super Iridiums both of which I have a large stock. I also like Kais once in a while and Light Brigades. LBs are rather amazing - they last me for 25+ multipass shaves - almost a month of daily use. A Feather takes one shave to break in then is good for maybe 4-5 more days before it starts to pull. SI about the same. No wonder Wilkinson stopped making top quality blades - they couldn't have sold enough to make it profitable. Even at current ebay prices LB is not a bad deal on a per shave basis. Feathers probably win on a forum like this because they are sharp, reliable and predictable performers and readily available at a reasonable price.

I still have three pillar packs of the last English production Wilkinson Sword blades that I bought some ten years ago. If memory serves me correctly, they were made in 2001. I used ten of them and moved on to other new blades that were becoming available. I should probably break out a fresh 10-pack of these and give them another try, these many years later.
