I’m looking for very mild safety razors for sensitive skin. HELP!

Let's talk about single and double edged razors and the blades that they use.

I have only used it with Derby so far -- and there is a reason. The head design curves the blade so very sharply that I wondered how well it would perform with a mild blade. So far I have used it with Derby regular blades and Derby Premium blades -- and it does a surprisingly good job. Since I have a habit of using up a full tuck before going on to another blade, I have not gone further yet. Next up will be blades that I consider to have higher performance: Personna meds, Gillette Silver Blues, Gillette Yellows, Feathers.

@ Murray

Hi Murray

I do note what you say about the 1912 being aggressive.

That was what I was expecting but I have found it to be very efficient and not aggressive at all.

I also think the soap helps and I feel the ABAC is better than Cella with this combination.
I get about 12 shaves from a GEM PTFE which also surprises me.

Maybe it will change in the future.

Hi Alan -

I guess I just experience all GEM and GEM-type razors as aggressive, the 1912 especially so.

I'm sure lather is a part of it. I want lather with maximal glide and minimal cushion, which favors a mild razor. A more aggressive razor would require that I entirely rework my approach to lathering.

By the way, what is ABAC?

I don't mean to answer for Alan, but I suppose it's https://www.anticabarbieriacollashop.com/en/6-shaving.

Thanks, Gary. I have, indeed, heard about this soap. I just hadn't seen it identified with an acronym.

Hi Guys and Thanks Gary.

Yes that's the right one.

Can be expensive but in the 1kg pack it's ok.
Price comes down to regular Cella 150 gr or better.

Also check for specials.
