Is this for real - Gillette prototype gas-powered razor?

Let's talk about single and double edged razors and the blades that they use.

Is this for real - Gillette prototype gas-powered razor?

If it is for real, I think somebody took a standard Gillette Super Speed and modified it. It doesn't seem to be something Gillette was working on. I suppose the idea was to heat the blade to be better at cutting hairs, but it looks to me like a joke - a hookah crossed with a razor.

Looking at the "gas" end of the hose makes me wonder where it's inserted to get the gas.

Some kind of fitting in a small tank or cartridge? I tried to find a patent, with no luck.

I've been writing to the seller, who provided this entertaining last message:

"I don't believe I said it was real, I said i thought it was a proto type! Thanks for your time and carry on!"

He doesn't think it's a joke, despite my sending him the picture I posted here, and he won't tell me how he thinks it works.

Evidently it's real, but a real gag gift from the '50s.

If I was going to develop a "gas-powered razor" (which I am not), it would look more like this:
