Well, here's my first razor with the set screw idea. Turned out great. The knob is an oversized piece of brass hex (5/8" across the flats). The set screw holds the adjustment perfectly. Allows the user to lock the setting so it won't move during shaving.

Thanks for looking and I'm still waiting for someone to claim the above "freebie" offer.

ERic,

I don't understand the need for the set screw...

I have a Progress and a Progress (Mergress) that was modified and have never had a problem with the setting moving while shaving with either...

Just curious... Have there been issues that I've not read about... :?

Hi Oscar,

One member stated that he holds the Progress by the knob and sometimes the setting will change while he shaves. He suggested a type of lock to keep the setting while he was shaving. This is what I came up with.

Thanks,

Eric,
Do you have a website with pictures of all the various incarnations available? Would be easier than scrolling through this entire thread. :)

Thanks.

Hi Jim,

I've been thinking of that more and more lately.

It's on the "to do" list for sure.

Thanks,

All the mods and admins are agreed that this thread and any related to it belong in the Shopping Forum as this is no longer a private sale of one item, but an offer to sell a manufactured item for profit. It looks very nice, by the way, and I wish good luck to the seller.
So, Eric, please treat your future posts relating to this splendid addition to the Progress as any other vendor should his products, and place them in the Shopping Forum.

Eric,

Do you sell the razor with the modification or just the modification?

Thank You,
Marty

Here's something different.

Standard knob style but twice as long:

Hi, My name is Damon fairly new to this forum I'v noticed the knobs you put on the Merkur, it's very nice. I was wondering what you would charge to make a replacement handle much like the knob above 3.5in long for my 3 piece Merkur.

Hi Damon,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the compliments.

I can definitely make a replacement handle like the above knob for your 3 piece Merkur. I'd recommend 1/2" diameter though. The 5/8" above might be a little heavy.

For 1/2" diameter it would be $40 shipped and for 5/8" diameter it would be $45 shipped.

Tell you what, this sounds like a fun project so if you decide to do it I'll throw in a pack of Derby's and a Lee's Blade Bank.

Let me know,

Eric
