I have completed two brushes with the BOSS (Black Onyx Soft Synthetic) knot. This has become a favorite of mine lately. It is super good, absolutely consistent unit to unit and is really beautiful looking.

First brush is by custom order and is in "Jungle Moss" resin.

Second one is in one-off "Vampire Red" resin, which is not likely to be available again. This one is for my Etsy store.

Second one is in Black and White resin (marble) with a Tuxedo synthetic knot. This is the first brush I made with this excellent knot. It is very similar to BOSS, but slightly different in shape and obviously coloring.

Wow, seeing this BOSS knot for the first time. Got me a EJ Synthetic Silvertip I might put up for sale to get one of these. Loved that black peacock with the blue in it and then this blue resin one. How would the black knot compare to the one I have. How is the tuxedo knot compared to the BOSS?

These new synthetic knots are amazing! I have never met a synthetic knot I liked until the BOSS (it came on the scene also known as the "Game Changer" by another brush maker). This thing is amazing and truly gives badger run for its money. You will not get the feel of natural hair, but that's subtle. The softness, backbone and lather producing ability is absolutely incredible. The Tuxedo knot uses the same fibers, but arranges them in a different, more bulb-like shape and of course the color scheme is different. I have not yet used a Tuxedo knot, but it feels very similar to the BOSS. I will have to have a shave with one soon and report back. But my expectation is that it is very similar to BOSS. Definitely give one or both of them a try. They are pretty amazing.
