New Age Wade & Butcher Resto, Finished!

Post by Dave_D »

Hello All,

A thread was started some time ago on the initial restoration process that started on this one, a 9/8 Wade and Butcher. Things took a turn for the different so I figured a new thread was in order. Macasar Ebony was originally slated for the scales but after seeing another razor with acrylic I got to thinking how cool some ocean blue scales might look, must be the kid in me :D

Heres how it started out, pre restoration:

And here it is as of today:

Its been a fun project, inspiring a few more. Hope you enjoy the pics.

It looks nice, though the scales need to be adjusted so the blade fits down deeper.

Looks good! I like the pins. . . that looks like a serious blade.

9/8 eh? Nice work

Very interesting, especially the lack of a wedge. I have only one razor w/ such scales (acrylic, no wedge) in a slightly different implementation: one piece, just bent at butt end

I do prefer horn on these old English blades to keep them close to the original, but I still appreciate the play / contrast between the blade and your choice of scales

Cheers
