Monday
  • Prep: regular (shower, towelling dry, remoistening the beard with warm water)
  • Soap: Tabac Original
  • Brush: Shavemac silvertip badger
  • Razor: Gillette M3Power on a non-vibrating handle
  • Method: 2 N-S passes, 1 ATG pass, very little touching up
  • Aftershave balm: The Bodyshop 'For Men Razor Relief'
  • Eau de Toilette: Floris 'Eau de Santal'
Classy shave. The balm works well for me---no inflated skin later in the afternoon---so it's a keeper for me. Now we'll see how the GF likes this edt... (She ought to, she approved of it earlier. But it's nice to 'confuse' her with scents so she has to follow her nose alone.)

C-M Sandalwood and KMF unscented
EJ Super badger
'52 Tech
Lord SS (day 2)
Humphrey's witch hazel
Superior 70 bay rum
Rose hip seed oil

The lather was moisturizing, but even with the KMF, not very dense. C-M seems to only lather well with a good soap, not with another cream, and it's just not worth it. Given that I wouldn't wish the stuff on anyone, I'll be throwing it out later today.

Good day 2 shave from the blade. Happy with these overall. Love the bay rum. Love it.

Regards,
Regards,
Tim

Followers of my posts may well recognize, due to the items listed above, that I'm travelling at the moment. It's raining in Tallahassee.

Monday

C&E BBB
La Toja Stick
Merkur HD
Derby
Floid Suave

A Spanish theme to start the week. La Toja makes a wonderful lather that provides for a very nice shave. Floid is something new I decided to sample, my first time experiencing a little burn and then a little menthol, not bad. Scent might be a little "old school", upfront powdery with sort of a herby/woody background. HD/Derby combo continues to solidify as my go to combo.

Have a great week,

Gary

Monday Morning

Gilette slim adjustable w/US Personna - first time with a sore neck in months --- I had some hubris this morning and should have changed the blade
GFT Sandalwood Skin Food
C&E/EJ Super Badger brush (I love this large brush - lathers anything up nicely!)
Palmolive Classic cream (UK green tube)
Em's Place alum block
My Nik is Sealed (see above re: blade)
The Body Shop Razor Relief -- and boy did I need it this morning.

My fault for rushing through things today. There was really no need to, and I paid for my hubris.

Monday:

Gillette Model #58 & LB NOS Wilkinson blade
Simpson PJ3 Best
Coate's Lavender shave cream
D R Harris's Pink A/S
Penhaligon's English Fern

Coate's creams ( and especially their Lavender ) remain the last word in quality shaving as far as I'm concerned. There is nothing still made that is quite as good.....close, but not quite. The PJ3 continues to churn up a truly massive amount of lather, even with my mediocre water. Rather like some describe those really large brushes, bigger Polos and the like. All this wonderful lather left over that you can't use. A real luxury shave all the way around.
