Agreed, Rich. I have also enjoyed lathering the mint up with Tryphon Permafrost. It doesn't increase the frostiness of Permafrost at all, but it does smell fantastic.Straight Arrow wrote:

Never tried the Permafrost but it sounds like a great match for Tom's.TBoner wrote:Agreed, Rich. I have also enjoyed lathering the mint up with Tryphon Permafrost. It doesn't increase the frostiness of Permafrost at all, but it does smell fantastic.Straight Arrow wrote:

3 shaves within 1 week is usually unheard of for me. (It's one of those slow beard growth + being retired = once a week shaves) This week was differant. I had guitar lessons on Saturday, and 2 Dr's apointments this week, so I wound up with 3 shaves this week. Was quite pleased with the result.
Implements of mass destruction:
brush: Tweezerman pure badger
strop: Black Bear brand - freshly treated with neats foot oil.
soap: bay rum from ebay with a touch of Proraso from the bst thread
razor: Barclay brothers spike
three passes wtg, atg and xtg
results: bbs with only a one spot of razor burn or scrape, styptic pencil took care of it in no time.
A/S balm: Bigelow Bay Rum a/s balm (love the smell of this stuff)
Krew Kut stick for my hair and I was good to go.

Friday
I discovered what was bugging me about Floris Santal: it lacks freshness. It would be a good basenote scent on me, once the heartnote is beginning to fade. But that's not what Santal is about: precisely that heartnote is all spicyness, backed up by a powerful, sweet and heavy basenote. With some regret I shelved the sample vial---clearly a case of wanting to love, but ultimately unable to.
- Prep: regular (shower, towelling dry, remoistening the beard with warm water)
- Cream: The Bodyshop 'For Men Shave Cream'
- Brush: Shavemac silvertip badger
- Razor: Gillette M3Power on a non-vibrating handle
- Method: 2 N-S passes, 1 ATG pass, minor touching up
- Aftershave balm: The Bodyshop 'For Men Razor Relief'
- Eau de Toilette: Floris 'J.F.'
